Hi, my mum and her partner recently moved to Middlesborough from Ireland, but they have terrible signal in the new house. Is there anything easy solution I can do to improve it for them?

If your Mum and partner have an internet connection, the solution is to use WiFi calling, ideal for when there is a poor signal.  Check out device guides on how to get this set up. Device Guides

Follow this link and check the coverage checker. Network Issues

Hey Ann, Wifi calling isn't ideal for them, they get a lot of calls from older relatives to their mobile number that wouldn't be familiar with WiFi apps like Whatsapp and the likes, so they keep missing the calls and not getting notifications until they're out of the house.  It's the solution they're using at the moment but it isn't great. I was looking into something like one of these vodafone boosters for Christmas but not sure if they work well or not? I was thinking of the cheaper one but maybe I need 4G?

The Wifi calling would only be for your Mum, it will provide her with a connection to make and receive calls and texts.  It merely means the phone uses the internet connection, rather than the network when the signal is poor but the calls still go through Vodafone.

Hey @jgeek. Thanks for getting in touch, all of what Anne has confirmed is correct and what we'd recommend. However, if your Mum continues to have issues you can get her to make contact with our social media team here and they can run some additional checks and look to assist also.

Thanks Ann and Remi, I'll let her know to try Wifi calling for outbound calls herself in the meantime and look into the boosters a bit more, hopefully they're a good solution as well :Smiling:

As already mentioned, WiFi-calling allows full use of a phone regardless of mobile network coverage or lack of.

If your Mum is connected to VF's network via WiFi-calling, then how the other party to a call is connected to their phone network is irrelevant. That could be a mobile via either WiFi or coverage, it could be a landline via a physical wire - it doesn't matter.

This is where app-based "calling" differs from WiFi-calling

Thanks I didn't realise that this was a separate feature to app-cased calls like whatsapp, which wouldn't really be a good solution long term.
