Any one else got poor service/signal since 3g switch off? Think vodafone 3g switch off is a step backwards. My s22 ultra is always warm from always searching for signal since 3g switch off! Before I could get a steady 8mbps now I'm either getting nothing or rarely 150mbps when 5g appears I've got to put my phone on silent at night to stop all the no service notifications 😑 poor show vodafone I'd rather have a reliable signal than this occasionally 1bar 4g or 1bar 5g

Well I’ve managed to fix my poor 4g issues despite reporting it several times.
iv purchased an extra sim on another network and use that for data so everything is good now.

That's an astoundingly clever yet simple solution. I was working in North Hylton, Tyne & Wear, some years ago and did something similar for voice and SMS because the hotel I was working in, I couldn't get a signal inside. I had a dumbphone at the time so never thought about using a second SIM for data. Glad you've solved your issue 🙂

It’s not really fixing an issue though is it. We all pay a lot of money to use data with Vodafone, yet they can’t provide it. Buying another sim is just plastering over the cracks, and signing up for data with another provider and incurring more costs.
I cannot get signal in Norwich, I can’t get it in Great Yarmouth and surrounding towns. When I do, it’s 1 bar of 4g and 90% of the time it’s barely usable. If I’m lucky it will flip to Edge. £40+ for unlimited data with no speed caps is utterly pointless as I can’t use it.
This is a huge problem, and isn’t just affecting a few. Vodafone should be honest with there customers.

The other day, I was returning home from a training course, travelling on a commuter train from Glasgow to Ardrossan.
The first two thirds of this route is a mainline railway connecting:
Glasgow, population 632,350
Paisley, population 79,369
Johnstone, population 15,930
Glengarnock [for Kilbirnie], combined population 7,780
Dalry, population 5,250
Kilwinning, population 15,908
Despite that, once the train departed Paisley, the signal was either:
4G 2 bars
4G 1 bar
E 2 to 3 bars
I'd say, on average, the phone was displaying 4G with 1 or briefly zero bars on display. I was trying to access fairly simple webpages, nothing graphics rich but, as so many people are now experiencing, the browser kept grinding to a halt.
I had earphones plugged into the USB-C socket via an adapter and they were picking up the vintage 900/1800 MHz "chirrup chirrup" sound while I was doing nothing except listen to music stored on the phone, i.e. the phone had gone to 2G and was doing base station handshakes.
You summed it up so succinctly when you said, "This is a huge problem, and isn’t just affecting a few. Vodafone should be honest with their customers.". At least there is currently still 2G so I could still make calls and send SMS texts but I don't know how the younger generations would cope, having grown up with apps like Facebook and Instagram. I imagine those don't work well on 2.5G Edge! What will happen when 2G is eventually switched off? Will 4G and 5G have had the many notspots covered by then?
If Vodafone just messaged all customers and said, "There's a problem, we know it, we're sorry, we're working on resolving it!", I'd admire their honesty and like them more for being open about the issue.

but for now while they keep telling me that the signal is great where I live and till my contract is up I’ll have to make do with good5g on Ee

Just spoke to the network team. 1st chap was open and honest, said he gets these calls up to 10 a day, unfortunately the line went dead (ironic). 2nd ladies suggestion was whenever I’m 5 minutes from my house, I need to switch airplane mode on for 30seconds, then back off. Despite the fact I’m experiencing this in a number of locations. Also I can “use my WiFi”.. what about the unlimited data I’m paying for? Hardly a fix is it?
She told me as I’m past my 14day cooling off period, I’m not allowed to leave my contract. Despite them causing the problem past my cooling off period.
I have them calling me back tomorrow, and they want me to travel to a different postcode, to switch airplane mode on and off and do a speed test. Unfortunately my contract doesn’t end until October 2025, and I don’t have time to keep ringing these people up, so I’m stuck with a contract that I can’t really use.

Sheesh, October 2025 is a long way away. I was thinking of installing the Cellmapper app and walking around my home town, covering every street. It currently seems to only have had reports in this area from people in cars and trains. That's helpful but doesn't give an overall picture of the town.
I really find it depressing when you've signed up, in good faith, for a service and then the service provider reneges on providing the level of service you were led to believe you were going to receive. Even if incorrect from a legal standpoint, I call it embezzlement or fraud because you still have to pay the money you agreed to but you're getting very little or nothing in return.
Finally, I hope the first chap you spoke to did not get intentionally cut off by a supervisor and is now unemployed! 😮

Cellmapper maps 2 things.
1: RF quality - this has very little to do with data speeds.
2: The radio carriers in use - if VF are overly reliant on low-band frequencies (Bands 8 & 20) this could impact data performance.
