Roaming into ROI - Best way to control costs

Hi

I have a rep who lives on the ROI side of Newry and as a result he picks up the NI and ROI networks.

He has been on a pay as you go and the only roaming he can do is to Vodafone that is free.

I want to put him on a contract phone for Vodafone, but I am araid that if he roams to e.g. Three/o2/Eir ROI Ireland networks when at his home instead of roaming to Vodafone Ireland that O could be billed a fortune in data roaming charges

Is there a Vodafone tarif that allows people to only roam on to vodafone ROI when away so that it would not have extra charges?

Or allows them roam to anyone but with no extra fees?

Not sure if that is correct @Remi ?  @LondonDave is enquiring about charges from the Republic to the UK network.  According to this link Roaming Charges there are no additional roaming charges from the UK network to the Republic.  Vodafone Ireland should have the same terms.

To avoid accidentally connecting to the UK network, if the connection was put on manual and not automatic with Vodafone Ireland selected this would stop connecting to the UK network.

Thanks @AnnS, as he stated that he wants to discuss a contract with us that's why I pointed him to our Business Sales team. Your right also Ann there are no additional charges as all charges have been removed for Republic Of Ireland, I should have made that point and thanks for covering that point.

Sorry I was away for a week and back at work, so apologies for not saying thanks. I want him to be in a bill pay UK Vodafone, but as he lives on the border I wanted to be sure no untentional roaming costs were incurred.

So if you could help

1. Can I block all roaming onto networks other then Vodafone so he can only connect to Vodafone UK and Ireland (auto rather then manual)?

2. From what you say it looks like once he is on Voda Ireland or UK network there are no charges, usage is just as per the contract, is that right?

As mentioned above @LondonDave, to prevent a device from connecting or picking up other network connections, it would be a case of manually selecting the desired provider in network settings, instead of having 'Automatic' selected. As this is a Vodafone UK forum, I'm not familiar with the products and services offered by Vodafone Ireland, however here at Vodafone UK we have a service called Spend Manager - Spend Manager allows you to set a limit on spending, for added reassurance on spending. 

To add to AnnS, if you head over to our Roaming Charge Checker online and enter 'Republic of Ireland', you'll be able to see that as a Vodafone UK customer, there are no additional roaming charges.

It's a UK contract, not Ireland so that would mean the spend manager would be a perfect option.

I can set this to zero and effectively solves the problem!Out-of-plan charges for data, minutes, and texts
