I have an outstanding payment I supposedly still owe dating back to 2016 which not only has ripped a deep deep dent in my credit file but I genuinely believed I had settled and was not expecting what I saw. I’ve tried calling Customer Services on a few occasions and each time it takes about an hour to speak to someone explain the situation security questions etc. What I can see is that you’re asking for 9500 £s, and considering the times, the struggle to make ends meet because of covid you are refusing to accept instalment payments and demand payment in full all the while my credit score continues to take a beating. please help.

Hi @planemad

I appreciate how damaging a default can be from my own personal experience.

Unfortunately there is no account access via this forum.

A default that is warranted will remain on a person's Credit File for 6 years from the original default date.

However once the debt has been paid it's status on your Credit File would change from Outstanding  to Settled which does look better to any business conducting a search on you.

May I ask was the debt passed to a debt collection agency  ? If so then contact them and arrange payment installments.

If it wasn't passed to an agency then do speak with the Vodafone Social Media Team's via Social Media  as they maybe able to help, and they also have a dedicated Credit File Specialist Team who can investigate the Default if you feel it wasn't warranted.

Please note … Setting up a Payment Plan with Vodafone could also be reported onto your Credit File as a negative marker.

If Vodafone won't agree to a payment plan as you've indicated then speak with outside bodies such as Citizens Advice.

There are also sites with templated letters that you can print off and send to Vodafone to make an offer of payments.

Vodafone's address is in Complaints/code-of-practice.

I wish you all the best with this.
