Hi Guys and Gals.

So to follow on from this excellent thread http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/TV-Sport/Favorite-TV-Series/m-p/2417403#M130

I thought I'd ask what's people's Favourite Movies are and why ?

For me mine are.

The Terminator - because it was ahead of its time in story line and Special Effects.

StarShip Troopers - because it's a gore filled B Movie.

The Forbidden Planet - The original movie was ahead of its time and is a cult movie.

Saving Private Ryan - Awesone all around from story line, plots and special effects.

Forrest Gump - A masterpiece.

What's yours and why ?

Gran Torino is one of the best Clint Eastwood films in my opinion, puts a new meaning to the phrase 'grumpy old men'. All his films are classics, the spagetti Westerns, Dirty Harry films and the Any Which Way ones as well. One of the most difficult and rare Eastwood films to find is Bronco Billy.

I particularly liked Honkey TonkMan and HeartBreak Ridge and the film The Million Dollar baby not forgetting his earlier role in Rawhide.

Not forgetting his role in 'The Virginian', or are you too young to remember that programme? :smileywink:

Tim Burton turned out some good fun films in The Corpse Bride, Coraline, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Frankenweeny and others.

Another favorite of mine is The Hand That Rocks The Cradle.

Oooh I vaguely remember The Virginian but just that my dad used to watch it.  I love Rawhide, have got DVDs and managed to see reruns on TV a few years ago.

Films, well I love Galaxy Quest - so funny and I can relate to it being a Trekkie/sci fi fan! I love Les Miserables as a musical but only the show.  The film does nothing for me and the singing is dreadful.  I much prefer Hugh Jackman in X-Men!

You probably like the film 'Lost in Space' it's based on the original 1960's TV series of the same title featuring the Robinson family, the robot 'warning, warning' and the dastardly Zachary Smith. I remember watching it at tea time. You can get a box set of DVD's now of every episode plus the pilot that was never aired on the screen.

I love Galaxy Quest for the same reasons - a good spoof on Star Trek.
