Hi everyone,
I've recently taken out Vodafone 900 fibre package and have Cityfibre (not sure if it's cityfibre themselves or Kelly communications - all my SMS have been from cityfibre not had anything from Kelly as of yet) coming to install on the 20th. As I live in a 1st floor masoniette the routing will need to go up the wall of the building to the room it's going to need to enter. I might be kinda stupid for this, but I am worried a little that they will turn around and say they can't do it due to the weather. I know the weather can change and I'm hoping it does, but in the case it doesn't.. do cityfibre/Kelly still work on ladders in the rain? Or will they say it's a health and safety risk and I'd then be without internet if they were to delay the install.
Again, I realise I could be just overreacting to something like this but I've always had bad luck. 🤣
Solved! Go to best answer.

The only weather reason I would postpone an install for if if that weather was to make the work dangerous. I've been up poles in thunder storms.
Of course not all engineers work to the same standards, but there really should be no reason to cancel for a little rain.

Hey @SolidusSnake I hope you're doing well 😊 I completely understand the concern! Rain won't usually impact your installation unless it is very heavy.

@Ripshod I have a CSP that looks like this below: so I'm just curious, will cityfibre bring up the fibre into that and then somehow have it come out of that into the brown box they install on the outside or? Cause I don't believe they would really be able to make any trenches as most of the front of my property isn't grass.

Any duct will already be there and the main fibre would already be installed if Cityfibre is available to order. If you can't find an access point in the pavement outside your property there's a good chance the engineer could string your fibre from the closest telegraph pole.
It's all just guesswork right now though. I don't know how much work has progressed in your area.

Gotcha, yeah I haven't seen any access point on the pavement as far as I know anyway and we have no telegraph poles in the area at all. It is available to order and I have my install for Wednesday 20th! there are some neighbours who have it, so maybe I'll have to take a look at their outside box and see. Thank you for the response.

Your's is clearly going to be a bigger job, one that the engineer won't want to see. When I roll up in the morning I jet a job sheet with 8 jobs on for that day. I have to complete all 8 jobs or I get penalised. Allowing for lunch that's one hour per connection, including travelling.
It's not an easy job. Break out the tea and biscuits when they get there 😉

They must have some system as they have managed to do like 6 properties in my area within like 3 days and as far as I know they never had to dig up any of the gardens or anything so maybe they're making use of the PIA from openreach or something. My timeslot is 1-6PM! Oh don't worry I will offer them absolutely endless cups of teas and biscuits! 🤣 the building right across the way from me actually has it installed how I need it (up the wall to the first floor.) With the brown box placed directly next to or above the CSP from openreach. I'll try and get a snap of my neighbours and show you tomorrow or this weekend 😎
