24 month contract - when can I leave?

aidej
4: Newbie

I took out a 24 month Broadband FTTP account with Vodafone and the order was placed on 13 April 2023 and the contract is dated the 13 April 2023, but my City Fibre FTTP service wasn't connected until 24 April 2023.

I know I have to give 30 days notice, can anyone advise when that 30 days applies? Can I cancel on Friday 14 March 2025 or do I have to wait until the 13 April has passed? Thanks.

Hi @aidej The 30 days notice is our standard cancellation period, this is just the time between when you request the cancellation and when the service actually cancels. For example, you could call now and the service will cancel in 30 days from today, although if you're still within the terms of your contract then you'd incur an Early Termination Fee

A broadband contract usually starts from the date the connection goes live so I'd recommend checking your My Vodafone account to confirm when your contract ends. If you're looking cancel outright then just give us a call on 0333 304 0191 when you're ready. If you're planning to change broadband provider, through One Touch Switch, you won't need to speak to us at all. Just contact the new provider and they'll notify us that they're taking over on the agreed date.

We'd hate to see you leave though so I'd recommend checking out your exclusive deals in your My Vodafone account. Or come and have chat with our social team to talk through our offers.

Can I get a bit more clarification, please?
If I ask to cancel today (02/02/2025), and let's say my contract ends on 20/03/2025. 30 days from today is 04/03/2025. This means there is less than a month. What would the termination fee be? Would it be 0? Or rounded up to 1 month? So, 1*25=25 (if 25 is the monthly fee) If it is rounded up, is the earlist day I can call to cancel 18th or 19th or 20th of Feb?
Moreover, since my period starts on 24th, do I get any refund for the remaining days? The remaining days are 21st, 22nd, and 23rd. So, 3 days of refund? Assuming the contract end day is the last day of service.

Hi @lampuiho If your 30 days notice took your cancelled after your contract end date, there would be no termination fee. If your billing cycle runs from the 24th to the 23rd of the next month, and your services ceased on the 4th of the month, the following month on your final bill, you'd receive a pro rata refund for any usage already billed for from the day of disconnection. We'd be more than happy to check your account to give the accurate details on this. Please feel free reach out to us via the contact information here and we'll get things looked into.
