Hi. I have a fast, working gigafast connection using the supplied VF router. However, it is missing some functionality that I require for home users, eg DNS settings via DHCP server, plus a load of stuff I can't do for work, such as vlans.
I have tried to configure my old Draytek 2950n which has a wan side connection via ethernet. Plugged it into CPE, entered the PPOE username and password. But getting 'no response from server'. Have tried vlan 101 and 2000 but same result. Anyone got any suggestions?
Thanks
Solved! Go to best answer.

Hi all
I have been reading this thread with interest to see ifit will help me. I have joined the Gigafast group in MK & I am trying to replace the VF router with my Draytek 2860. Not being a networking expert I am really struggling. I want to keep my current BT connection in the ADSL port and plug the VF Gigafast into WAN2. Before I go experimenting with Load balancing or failover modes I just want to get the kink working!
I have entered the credentials, set the VLAN to 911 as suggested on here. Still nothing working. Any suggestions? does the MTU setting have any bearing on things?
Many thanks in advance

Hope the below is of some assistance.
Set MTU to 1492
VLAN Tag insertion (TAG value / VLAN ID) is correct at 911, and should have a priority of 0.
One item of note (Not sure if the Draytek 2860 is the same); I'm aware some of the Draytek devices experience an issue resulting in only 50MiB/s throughput due to NAT restrictions. This of course would restrict you in being able to fully utilise the 500Mbps or 900Mbps Gigafast service.

HI
Many thanks for the settings information. I have the Draytek working, but as you said the throughput is limited to about 50Mbs! grrr more research needed. Interestingly when I plugged the VF router back in I was getting 535down and 560up! so it is definitely a Draytek issue!

Have a look at this link. Looks like vlan id can be set on that router.

I've got my usrrname and password from voda tech support and set my external VLAN to 911 however i'm still not getting a connection to the outside world!
Any suggestions?

Any error messages in the log files?

Nothing in the logs not even a log of an attempt at connecting which is weird

Hi. Ensure you have correct password. Gigafast team gave me incorrect one on my first call. Normal support sent me right one. Also ask to have it send via text message to be sure
