Solution

Amazon echo dot connection issues

Every few days the Amazon echo dot can't connect to the internet and the only solution is to restart the router, this never happened with the third party router i have but now i have gone fftp i have no option but to use the vodafone router or loose my phone.

This is obviously the router causing the issue.

I had big problems connecting echo devices or fire stick after upgrading to fttp. I spent nearly 2 hrs with Vodafone support and got nowhere. I new my devices were OK because they worked seamlessly before upgrading.  SOLUTION

I logged into the router Web interface, created an additional ssid and password on WiFi 2. And wallah all device connected to the WiFi 2 ssid.

It seem that Vodafone have blocked some ports on WiFi 1.

Hi I tried making the suggested changes to the router but it did not work for me. My Dot was being allocated an IP address on the Vodafone Power Hub but could not connect to Amazon servers.

I got my Echo Dot working again by connecting to a mobile hotspot first, which worked just fine, and then used the Alexa App to look at the Wi-Fi connection the Dot was using, (the mobile hotspot), and changed the connection manually over to the previously configured Vodafone Power Hub. [App - Devices - Echo Dot - Settings Cog - "Change or remove a Wi-Fi network"]. I can't explain it but having a working connection via the mobile hotspot seems to help the Dot connect properly using the Vodafone Power Hub. Good Luck!
