Since my new broadband installation with Vodafone, I’ve not been able to connect any of my Apple TVs. Strangely, I follow the instructions but it does not allow me to put in a password - just does a double click. Very frustrating

Yes, when I select the correct broadband from the list, it immediately clicks and says wrong password, not actually allowing me to put in a password - it’s like a double click. When I click on any of the others it allows you to put in a password, but not on the Vodafone broadband unfortunately

Odd, strange it should behave differently with the Vodafone SSID to others,
Have you tried resetting the Apple TV to factory defaults?
Edit: Which router do you have, the THG3000 or the new Ultra router?
Reset or restore your Apple TV to its factory settings – Apple Support (UK)
If that doesn't work can you try with WPS?
