I have just moved across to Vodafone Ultrafast 500 Fibre and have an existing ASUS Rapture GT-AC5300.
From reading various posts it is not possible to set the Vodafone THG3000 hub to router only. I have requested the email address and password for the hub.
Some help with setting up the router would be much appreciated. I've read somewhere that I connect the LAN cable direct from the ONT direct to the router bypassing the Vodafone hub?
I've also been told I will not be able to use my home phone number that I transferred across from Virgin Media. Is there a work around?
Thanks in advance

Also interested in this as i am planning on moving to VodaFone but would very much like to use my existing Asus setup. Dont really want to be running another hub given the amount of connected devices i already have setup on my network.

Are you also going on to FTTP?

Yes, that’s the plan although reading through some of the other posts it doesn’t seem that straightforward to reuse my existing setup and I suspect I may end up using the VF router for its modem function and use the ASUs routers to serve the Wi-Fi access.

The THG3000 doesn't have a modem only mode, so it will be doing everything else. and the Asus will be a glorified Access Point.
Hopefully in the future they may release details of how to use the VoIP service on alternative hardware and then you can retire the THG3000.

As mention before THG3000 does not support Modem/Bridge Mode only ;(
and in that case you will loose landline/home phone service if you want to use the ASUS Rapture GT-AC5300.
But just looked and you can port your landline/home phone: It's called "renumber and export"
https://www.aa.net.uk/voice-and-mobile/number-porting/port-your-landline-voip/
so you need to find a provider that will port your number for you
See my posts in the landline section

Maybe Sipgate.co.uk will do it Interesting post here:

But since you are on FTTP, you can not loose any service
I believe that you could go even further and get rid of the ONT and plug the fiber to decent quality Router (with some MAC address cloning

Nope, you cannot remove the ONT/(G)PON device and plug the fibre optic cable directly into a router! The ONT/(G)PON filters, decodes and converts the optical signal so that you can connect to the router using an ethernet cable.

Are you sure?
According to this post it can be done on CitiFIber ONT equipment and plugged into a SFP module/Router directly.

Regards using an SFP module and spoofing the ONT settings, yes I am aware that is possible. Not mentioning that possibility was an active decision.
Can it physically be done: Yes, but may vary depending on the ONT/PON/GPON in use
Having done it, if you were caught by your ISP would there be repercussions: Possibly
I tend to be of the mind that it is not wise to promote, or engage in such actions, especially when the resulting action offers no positive benefits.

@CrimsonLiar
I will def. do it, when/if I get FTTP
Removing the ONT you do not gain anything ... well, just "1" less device and my other half would definitely agree with me, less cables looks tidy
