IF YOU ARE USING A THIRD-PARTY ROUTER THAT WORKS 100% WITHOUT BUGS.PLEASE PM ME THE MAKE AND MODEL SO I CAN UPDATE THE LIST

The first thing you need to do is ask Vodafone for your username and password. live chat with Vodafone is best because you can copy and paste the name and password into the router. ( some users did write it down wrong. password is lower and upper case. username watch out for zero and o )

https://www.vodafone.co.uk/contact-us/index.htm

https://www.vodafone.co.uk/bbservcd/

FTTC SETTING         ( FTTP is below FTTC)

The setting is the same for all the routers it's down to the isp (the setting page will be laid out differently but the setting are still the same, eg

Vodafone setting are

Vlan ID - 101

enable 802.1q (not on every router)

Username  - ******@broadband.vodafone.co.uk

Username - ******@businessbroadband.vodafone.co.uk  ( for business customers )

Password - ********

PPPoE

MTU Size : 1492

rest of the setting auto detect when the router and the dslam are negotiating with each other

TP-Link Archer VR400 V3 AC1200 Wireless MU-MIMO Dual Band (1st Advanced tab, change the Operation Mode to Wireless Router Mode (the ONT is acting as a modem, hence it will not work if you are in DLS Modem Router Mode). 2nd  Do not enable VLAN ID or it will not work! Vodafone will tell you to set it to 101, if you do this it will not work! Keep the default MTU size (1480), do not change it to 1492, as suggested in several posts in this thread, or it will not work!.

My fibre, FTTP with openreach is being installed as I type this - engineers are fixing the cable to the outside of the house, but thanks to many screwups, I STILL don't have my hardware from Vodafone.

I have a Asus AX5400 which I hope (and plan to use in the future) to be able to use when they leave, and just wanted to check, that as far as I can tell, all I need to get from Vodafone is a username and password?

I currently use the 5400 in router mode with a draytek dsl modem, so it's already setup to use another modem - so it should just see the Openreach ONT as another modem, correct?

I've attached my current asus settings page, is there anything else I should be changing?

thank you! 1.png

Your pictures haven't been moderated yet, but yes, all you should need is the PPPoE credentials, which you can get from live chat. https://www.vodafone.co.uk/bbservcd/

Fantastic, thank you

You're on openreach so if Vodafone tell you the VLANID is 101 or 911 it isn't. Just leave the VLANID empty.

I know it doesn't help much (if only we could get direct lines to certain advisors!), but the guy who's been helping me for the last week or so (after some massive vodafone blunders), Edward/Eddy, has been absolutely superb. Gave me my username/pw straight away and there was no mention of the VLANID.

Thanks Eddy!

And thanks to everyone here as well!

@Ripshod I do not know what is going on with you, but you need to get a grip.
OpenReach is wholly owned by BT Group. Fact. As stated on the OpenReach site (https://www.openreach.com/about/our-company# "We're a wholly owned subsidiary of BT Group and our customers are the 688 communications providers who sell phone, broadband and Ethernet services to homes and businesses.")
I NEVER said you need to use BT settings. I said that the vodafone settings can vary based on whether your infrastructure is provided by BT OpenReach or CityFibre (which I erroneously called CityLink earlier).
I honestly do not know why this issue triggers you, but do us all a favour and get over it.

You are having an utter meltdown over nothing.
Please just move on.

Me too, facts are facts, you are entitled to disbelieve them, but that doesn't make them wrong..

@gipjon apologies, the meltdown message was posted here by accident, it was meant to be a reply to another thread where I am being attacked by @Ripshod as I called OpenReach 'BT OpenReach'.
I don't think any of us post here and expect to be attacked by other users. Experienced ones at that.
But there you go.
