IF YOU ARE USING A THIRD-PARTY ROUTER THAT WORKS 100% WITHOUT BUGS.PLEASE PM ME THE MAKE AND MODEL SO I CAN UPDATE THE LIST
The first thing you need to do is ask Vodafone for your username and password. live chat with Vodafone is best because you can copy and paste the name and password into the router. ( some users did write it down wrong. password is lower and upper case. username watch out for zero and o )

TP-Link Archer VR400 V3 AC1200 Wireless MU-MIMO Dual Band (1st Advanced tab, change the Operation Mode to Wireless Router Mode (the ONT is acting as a modem, hence it will not work if you are in DLS Modem Router Mode). 2nd Do not enable VLAN ID or it will not work! Vodafone will tell you to set it to 101, if you do this it will not work! Keep the default MTU size (1480), do not change it to 1492, as suggested in several posts in this thread, or it will not work!.

Models numbers get a little complicated with Draytek routers. The latest Vigor 2865 is a WiFi6 AX3000 device, and probably knocks the THG3000 into a cocked hat - but you have to make sure it's the latest version, and that it's the UK version!

Hi, guys
I'm new to Vodafone after many years with another provider and I've broken the golden rule of ' If its not broken don't fix it'. I decided to change to Vodafone as I could get the ultra fast Pro 6E router for a better price than my previous 250Mb package. This is where the problem lies with the 6E router and the function to set different SSID names for the 2.4 and 5G networks resulting in none of my smart devices can be configured as my iPhone always connects to the 5G, I couldn't even get my smart heating system working as I need a 2.4G network to configure the installation app. Anyway, from reading this forum you're all aware of this issue.
Anyway, after some advice from the IT guy at work I've connected a 2.4G router to the 6E hub and all is good now, but I have to return the 2.4 router at some point soon. This leave me with the idea of purchasing a Wi-Fi 6 router from TP-Link (AX55). Vodafone have given me my IP, user name and password details but I've got no clue what to do with them once I purchase the router. I've searched the web but cant find any decent vids or posts on how to configure the new router to work with a existing ISP. The Vodafone 6E pro expert team told me there will be a QR code on the box of the new router and all I need to do is scan that and follow the instructions. The question for you guys is this correct and life can return to some kind of normality for me?
Apologies for the rather long first post but its been so stressful the last few days I really could do with some advice.

Personally, when you have to return the 2.4Ghz router, just get a cheap 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi Access Point to replace it. It's probably only running in access point mode anyway.

Or setting up a 2.4 guest network on the vf router often works.

Returning a router . Not heard of that before .
All I did when I changed routers was just split the wifi and used the old wifi name and password on the 2.4g that way every device will connectto the 2.4g . And just stick 5g on the end of the wifi name for the 5g and the device that you know will work with the 5g changed the wifi name to the 5g

I think they just borrowed it from someone at work.

So I take it that turning the router off and setting up the iPhone as 2.4GHz LAN-Mimicing hotspot (to mobile data) isn't working (is it an Apple thing?).

Nope, thats not possible to do either 😞 The guest setting still only allocates all 2.4, 5 and 6G to the same SSID.
You cannot split frequencies on the 6E router at all, it uses the same SSID for all. The only way to get the router to connect to my iPhone is to take the phone to the range limit of 5G and then the router will automatically try to reconnect using 2.4G
Crazy 😞

So, one of the workarounds on Android has been to turn the router off entirely. And then set up a 2.4GHz hotspot on a mobile that's connected to the Mobile network only (there's no other WiFi) and with SSID and wifi password that mimic those of the router and it's extenders if they were available. In most cases, you can then set your clients using the device hosting the hotspot, but it does still sometimes require a second device connected to the 2.4GHz hotspot.
Once everything is set up, you turn the hotspot off and the router + extenders back on, and hopefully everything will reconnect!

Thanks guys for all the replies.
As the 6E router only has 2 Lan ports (I was told before I went with VF it had 4) I've decided to go for the TP-Link AX55 rout as I have some AV equipment that isn't Wi-FI so I phoned VF and asked if it doesn't work as expected can I go back to their 6E router and was told yes that's possible, I will then use the AX55 as a 2.4G access port with the extra Lan ports used as loop through
Now this is where I'm scratching my head. I asked them what do I have to do with the user name and password their gave me and was told this is used to log onto the new router I buy. Surely the new router will expect its default password to log onto UI before I can do anything else.
Would somebody please tell me the procedure for replacing the VF router with a third party one, I would really appreciate it.
