IF YOU ARE USING A THIRD-PARTY ROUTER THAT WORKS 100% WITHOUT BUGS.PLEASE PM ME THE MAKE AND MODEL SO I CAN UPDATE THE LIST
The first thing you need to do is ask Vodafone for your username and password. live chat with Vodafone is best because you can copy and paste the name and password into the router. ( some users did write it down wrong. password is lower and upper case. username watch out for zero and o )

TP-Link Archer AC2300 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi Gigabit Router (Plug ONT cable into Internet port, run Autodetect > PPPoE > add username/pass = connected at full speed), no need for VLAN IDs
TP-Link Archer VR400 V3 AC1200 Wireless MU-MIMO Dual Band (1st Advanced tab, change the Operation Mode to Wireless Router Mode (the ONT is acting as a modem, hence it will not work if you are in DLS Modem Router Mode). 2nd Do not enable VLAN ID or it will not work! Vodafone will tell you to set it to 101, if you do this it will not work! Keep the default MTU size (1480), do not change it to 1492, as suggested in several posts in this thread, or it will not work!.

Hi im having the Pro II service installed tuesday and just received the hardware but from reading around it sounds like i cant just use any sfp module and im going to have to provide my own router to get more than 1Gbps, any suggestions for something that has more 2 2.5Gb ports and is reasonably priced? as long as the router i get has a usb port will i be able to use the 4G backup?

@nick82 The VF service is only 1Gbps so why the need for 2.5?
08-08-2024 09:52 PM
VF are now offering 1.2 and 1.5 gig in some areas.

@Ripshod It's unlikely that end-to-end connectivity will sustain those speeds even if the baseline carrier frequency is as fast as that.

We've been installing 5Gb ONTs for openreach for many months now (I lost count). I've tested connections to 1.8Gb, Like I said those speeds are only in certain areas right now, but those areas are expanding. The upgrade only needs a card swap at the exchange.

i got a GL.iNET GL-MT6000 seems like a good option for services above 1Gbps, it has 2x2.5G ports its pretty cheap and uses openWRT only real drawback i found is its not tri band and it doesnt recognize the provided 4G dongle. i like the adguard server and the vpn features seem like they might be useful for traveling

Hi,
Many thanks for this tip.
Does this work with Cityfibre?
Does it come loaded with openWRT?
24-08-2024 12:56 PM
I don't see why it wouldn't work with city fibre it's just a PPPoE connection like openreach isn't it?
The vendor firmware is openWRT with a custom UI and luci but you can easily install stable or snapshot versions of openWRT if you want. There's a lot of info about it on the openWRT table of hardware and forum

Thanks, hopefully someone from Vodafone can confirm this.
Do you have your router setup as bridge or router?
