IF YOU ARE USING A THIRD-PARTY ROUTER THAT WORKS 100% WITHOUT BUGS.PLEASE PM ME THE MAKE AND MODEL SO I CAN UPDATE THE LIST

The first thing you need to do is ask Vodafone for your username and password. live chat with Vodafone is best because you can copy and paste the name and password into the router. ( some users did write it down wrong. password is lower and upper case. username watch out for zero and o )

https://www.vodafone.co.uk/contact-us/index.htm

https://www.vodafone.co.uk/bbservcd/

FTTC SETTING         ( FTTP is below FTTC)

The setting is the same for all the routers it's down to the isp (the setting page will be laid out differently but the setting are still the same, eg

Vodafone setting are

Vlan ID - 101

enable 802.1q (not on every router)

Username  - ******@broadband.vodafone.co.uk

Username - ******@businessbroadband.vodafone.co.uk  ( for business customers )

Password - ********

PPPoE

MTU Size : 1492

rest of the setting auto detect when the router and the dslam are negotiating with each other

TP-Link Archer VR400 V3 AC1200 Wireless MU-MIMO Dual Band (1st Advanced tab, change the Operation Mode to Wireless Router Mode (the ONT is acting as a modem, hence it will not work if you are in DLS Modem Router Mode). 2nd  Do not enable VLAN ID or it will not work! Vodafone will tell you to set it to 101, if you do this it will not work! Keep the default MTU size (1480), do not change it to 1492, as suggested in several posts in this thread, or it will not work!.

RT-AX86U ?

(from user) I managed to connect Asus DSL-AX82U modem/router and use it without Vodafone Wi-Fi hub finally. When use Asus router tutorial choose network provider as BT - Infinity. VLAN ID come up automatically as 101 then just copy your Vodafone username and password

so was I provided with the wrong user and password?

It is not unknown for this to happen…. The usual advice us to obtain this information via 'chat' and then print a transcript to eliminate any possible 'misheard' detail error.  That said, the operatives sometimes assume you know that your user name always starts with 'DSL' and/or always ends with @ broadband.vodafone.co.uk.

My username looks like: DSL[9 x numbers in the range 0-9]@broadband.vodafone.co.uk which I believe to be the standard format.

Not on Gigafast and while I too use my own kit, it is not Asus kit so hopefully someone with knowledge of your device will be along soon for configuration advice if needed.

@HappyNomad

You've said the username starts with DSL. I thought it was dsl (lowercase), which was one of the problems because (depending on the font) it was being mistaken for ds1.

Whilst the password is case sensitive, I doubt that it makes any difference to the username.   If the lowercase 'L' is being read as the numeral ‘1' then clearly the username is entered wrongly…

… DSL ********* or dsl********* is very different to DS1********* or ds1********* as far as your router is concerned.

Update to my previous post... after some more research, Gigafast running on Openreach infrastructure does not require VLAN ID. After disabling that setting all is working!

Thanks for the replies!

I had assumed you were on Cityfibre so didn't pick up on that point. Apparently on Openreach you may need to use 101, but it depends on the type of ONT. (info I have gleaned on here)

Glad you got it working.

When I was on VDSL (Superfast 1) had to use VLAN ID 101, but now on Gigafast there is no need. I've disable 802.1Q options and as soon as I did, I got a connection.

Could someone help me with the setup of an ASUS RT-AC68U, I've seen and tried the settings provided on the first page and in the thread but it seems not to be working for me.

I had a DSL connection before, and was connecting the router via an EchoLife modem. My router was working correctly.

I've relocated and fiber was available. I now have a Superfast 100 but can't get the router to work, I get the error message "Invalid account or password".
I have contacted the support twice, and they confirmed the credentials.

Is there any other setting that I'm missing?

If I try to change the VLAN in the IPTV settings I just get a "disconnected" message on the WAN status.

Could anyone give a me a suggestion or point me to the right direction?

If your Superfast 100 (fibre) is using the Openreach infrastructure, there is no VLAN requirement. I had the same issue when I model from VDSL to fibre.

Perhaps stating the obvious but is your username is entered as:

DSL[nine x numbers in the range O-9]@broadband.vodafone.co.uk rather than DS1*********@etc.

As discussed elsewhere, dsl001234567 and ds1001234567 look fairly similar but of course, are worlds apart.

p.s.  I am sure the user name is not case sensitive but lower case the ‘DSL’ just to be sure.
