IF YOU ARE USING A THIRD-PARTY ROUTER THAT WORKS 100% WITHOUT BUGS.PLEASE PM ME THE MAKE AND MODEL SO I CAN UPDATE THE LIST
The first thing you need to do is ask Vodafone for your username and password. live chat with Vodafone is best because you can copy and paste the name and password into the router. ( some users did write it down wrong. password is lower and upper case. username watch out for zero and o )

I use a Linksys MR8300 mesh router with three Velop mesh nodes around the house and an eight port switch in the 'den'.
Easy to set up (PPPoE) and it has been up and running for a couple of years or more with very little user intervention. The two more distant nodes have occasionally dropped their connection but beyond that… it has all served me well unlike the THG3000 it replaces.

Yes, I’ve read that article. PPoE is enabled, when I enter the credentials it doesn’t seem to be saving when I click on save.
VF have confirmed on several occasions that these details are correct t

@NGM1 does it revert to DHCP rather than PPPoE? (just asking as, as I was doing a search for eero and vodafone, I saw someone mentioning it on another forum)
Is the firmware all updated?
Have you tried contacting eero support? Might be worth confirming if the article effectively stating that you have to use the eero in conjunction with the VF router is current.
It does seem odd for it not to be compatible to replace the Vodafone router.
I had to keep the MTU size to the default setting (1480), and not use the VLAN ID to get it to connect (BT Openreach FTTP, Nokia ONT).
I don't know if this can be of any use, but this is my entire configuration

@Luciftian Your pic is still to be moderated but I’ll check that when it is.
The PPoE username stays in the eero app but the password does t save, it doesn’t revert to DHCP.
I have emailed Speedo support to question the need to use the VF router, I think this is probably an old article that’s needing updated.

Hi all,
I signed up to Vodaphone fiber2 and I just want to make sure that vodafone allow use of 3rd party routers/Modems?
I did a quick search and the answered seem to be yes
I have TP link tp link omada network installed. The modem is the standard BT Openreach one.

As you mention an Openreach modem, I assume you are on FTTP. (It's actually called an ONT (Optical Network Terminal) but optical modem is often used.
Yes Vodafone will supply PPPoE credentials if you ask. Easiest to use live chat https://www.vodafone.co.uk/bbservcd/ be aware they often get them wrong so you may need to ask a couple of times.
But as you will be on digital voice, getting the phone working can be challenging, should you require it.
Edit: I didn't know what an tp link omada network was, but it seems to be for business/retail and this is the Home Broadband forum, so advice given here may not be correct for your use.

thanks for thr speedy replies.
I'm on FTTC around 65MB
My set up is just the basic openreach modem - TP router- switch- acess points.
Not interested in voice calls at all.
But going by your posts it's just a few setting changes and grab the username and password from vodaphone.

Hi, I'm struggling to get my TUF-AX5400 to work.
I'm on CityFibre. I want to take the vodafone router out of the loop, with a direct connection from the ONT to the TUF-AX5400.
Currently I can only get it to work with vodafone's router wifi disabled, DMZ set to the asus, static IP on the asus WAN port. (so double NAT I think)
I want to check a coupe of things: I don't have an option to enter the VLAN, is this a problem?
On the first post, for fibre, doesn't list the [at]broadband.vodafone.co.uk in the username, should I enter dslxxxx standalone then? Regardless I've tried both and it doesn't work.
In terms of other setting, I have
NAT enabled (symmetric)
PPP Authentication auto
MTU and MRU as 1492
Service Name, Access Concentrator Name, Host-Uniq (Hexadecimal) all empty
Internet Detection - PPP Echo
PPP Echo Interval 6
PPP Echo Max Failures 10
Additional pppd options (none)
Special Requirement from ISP
Enable VPN + DHCP Connection - Yes
Host Name (none)
MAC Address (none)
Extend the TTL value - No
Spoof LAN TTL value - No
Thanks for any help. Vodafone made a mess of my account, so I' suspecting I might have the wrong username and password, but don't know how to check apart from rulling out everything else...

Username format is dslXXXXXXXXX@broadband.vodafone.co.uk
Make sure vodafone have given you the correct details.
You're on Cityfibre so VLANID should be 911.
Connect your asus' wan to the ONT then reset the router. When it reboots you'll be directed to the Quick Internet Setup page where you enter your PPPoE details.
** The above is based on an RT-AX88U. You may have to enter vlanid in the iptv tab if there is one.

Thanks, actually did some more digging, and I did manage to get it to work! I do confirm the username needs to have the [at]broadband.vodafone.co.uk, and that you need the VLAN, but the VLAN is in a weird palce, this post helped: https://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Broadband-connection/ASUS-Zen-Wifi-XT8-Setting-up-for-Gigafast/td-p/...
Essentially, for asus routers, it's on the LAN page, on the IPTV section, you need to go into manual settings and you can set it there.
After this it worked for me!
