Hi, I currently have Vodafone broadband. I have just finished building a garden room which is totally separate to the house. In preparation I ran a cat6 cable from the router to the garden room so that I could connect something to ensure a strong internet connection.
What would currently be the best thing to have in the garden room, connected to the cat6 from the router in the house? Specific product recommendations would be a great help.
Thanks in advance.

Connect one of the old routers you have to the end of the cat6 in the garden room . Then you will have 2g and 5g Wifi in the garden room and around the garden area . Just remember to log into the old router and turn off the dhcp etc. Plenty of topic on this forum to show you how . Its really easy

Thanks for your reply. I don’t currently have an old router - just the main Vodafone one in the house so was wandering if there a specific type that would do the job best.
Thanks for your help.

If the ethernet isn't the weatherproofed type (e.g. https://www.amazon.co.uk/OUTDOOR-EXTERNAL-cat5e-Network-Ethernet/dp/B009U81SQI I am not recommending, just using as an example) then run it inside corrugated tubing (e.g. https://www.amazon.co.uk/10m-Waterproof-Enclosure-Protection-Installations/dp/B01LXX825V, again no recommendation).
Alternatively if the garden room has mains electricity then use a Powerline device (e.g. https://www.netgear.com/uk/home/wired/powerline/ , I do have Netgear Powerline of an earlier model and I am very happy with it) but please note that other contributors to this forum have had poor experiences with Powerline and it may depend on how your house is wired.
