Hi
I had my 500Mb fibre installed on Thursday. My problem is the LAN ports only seem to support 100Mb connection. It says they are gigabit but they are not registering as such. All of my main equipment is hardwired through a gigabit network switch. All of the cables connected to it show gigabit connection but the switch to router is only 100Mbps. I also have a mesh system as the Vodafone WiFi can't even cover my upstairs. Now my mesh system is showing max speed as 91Mbps and wired is the same. Connect by WiFi direct to the router and it's 310Mbps. I contacted customer services and was told that I had to wait 5 days for it to activate in order for the ports to increase to the gigabyte speed. Im sure you know he is talking rubbish. After saying that he changed it to "they can't help until it is fully activated". Then he tried to blame my setup saying that all of my 6 cables were faulty as well as my mesh system. As this setup was working fine with the sky router and connected at the correct speed I know it is fine. Now before I cancel does anyone have any idea if this can be fixed before I cancel and switch to BT tonight.
Thanks

If you have the THG3000 router (and possibly the Ultra one) log onto the router and look under Status and Support, scroll down and you will find the ports and the speed they are connected at.
Try connecting only a known 1Gbs device into them one at a time, and see if they register correctly.
Edit: I would also suggest a factory reset of the router.

Thanks for the reply.
Everything shows as connected and 100Mbps. Direct to laptop/desktop with cat 6 cables and PCI gigabit network adapters. Same for network switch and mesh system.
Support reset my router today. And I have done it twice in the past 2 hours as I can't get the app to connect to it anymore They said there was software problems but that they fixed them then reset everything. Can't use app and signal strength has got that bad that I have no WiFi from router when I leave the room and WiFi speed has dropped from 320Mbps to 147Mbps when in same room. Support refuse to do anything else unless I wait at least another 5 days but with children who rely on the internet for tutors and online exam support this is not possible. Really struggled with my daughter's tutor earlier and had to switch off almost everything that was connected to mesh network to get a decent speed to her so the zoom call wouldn't keep freezing or disconnecting.
Just for context. I had sky 150Mb until Thursday and never had any problems. My son could be doing his support at the same time as my daughter and we could also watch Netflix but that is impossible with Vodafone 500Mb for some reason.
Thanks

It does seem like there is a problem with the router. Did you try with all ports diconnected, and just connect one device?
A factory reset is different to just rebooting. Hold the reset button in for at least 10 seconds, or do it via the router interface.
Another test would be to use an ethernet cable (at least 5e) to link 2 ports on the router, they should both show as 1Gbs. If they don't the router must be faulty. (but do factory reset first)

Here's a bit of a conundrum.
Looping the cat6 cables shows 1Gbps. Put it in the laptop and it shows 100Mbps. Take laptop round to in laws who have the same hub and it connects at 1Gbps.
Took my mesh system round to my in laws and it also Showed as connected 1Gb but 100Mb on mine. Same cables and hardware Vodafone will not replace the router as they are saying it's my equipment at fault. No option but to leave.
Thanks for taking the time to reply. Much appreciated.

That is a conundrum.
The loopback test proves the ports are auto-negotiating correctly, so what could cause a difference between being on your network and the in-laws I can't imagine.😕

@Sco0ter Please excuse what may seem a daft question, but did you take the switch to your in-laws when you tested your devices there?
Is the switch managed or unmanaged?
Years ago, back in the days of 1/10/100 switches, it was important which port connected towards the router. Did you try different ports on the switch?
Sorry if I misunderstood anything, I know that this must be a frustrating situation.
