Laptop ONLY connects to Super wifi....not main router!

I have a super wifi booster. My laptop wifi does not see my main router  - the laptop wifi is working fine  - I see many other SSID eg from my neighbours.

However unless I turn on the Super Wifi booster ,the SSID for my vodafone network does not appear on the list of available networks on my laptop.

My laptop will only 'see' my vodafone network if and only if the Super Wifi booster is switched on!

Help!!

The only scenario I can think of is that the Wi-Fi in the router is not transmitting. (either one band or both)

Try factory resetting the router. I would get a Wi-Fi analyser for your phone and see if you can see both bands with the booster off.

Thanks...however the main router is transmitting fine...I have other devices connected to it (even with the booster switched off),  including my phone. It is as if my laptop only recognises the booster...it is weird!!!

I have restarted the main router a number of times to no avail.....Im reluctant to reset it since it is working fine for absolutely everything else EXCEPT my laptop  😞

@andrewinstirlin Are both the router and booster on the same channels?

Mmm....im not sure....how do i find what channel the main router and the booster are on?

Install a wifi Analyzer on your phone.

Ah thanks. It appears that the main router is on Ch13...but the super wifi booster is Ch 6. It appears my laptop isnt seeing Ch 13?

Check the region settings in the laptop, make sure it's set to UK.

Yup it is UK. I thought I could try to change the channel on the router myself but from what i can see Vodafone have removed this option??

Thanks for all the help ...it got me to the root of the problem and then fix it! Brill!
