Hello...
My current ISP contract with another provider ends at the beginning of May 2025.
I'm now considering in advance a new Full Fibre contract with Vodafone.
Currently, my ISP delivers around 150 Mbps for 'FTTC' but will soon be charging the same or more for 'FTTP'
Other than no-hassle to renew, it doesn't make economic sense NOT to go FTTP, since that seems to be the direction of travel for broadband now.
For other reasons, though, I won't be renewing with my current ISP.
I live in smallish home so don't need a lot of coverage. Two rooms/lounge - no upstairs, never a problem connecting.
Further, I very rarely have more than ONE device on at any one time. Either desktop or Smart TV.
I'd be happy with 150Mb for my needs.
So, a few queries I'd appreciate help with:
1. I'm assuming Vodafone sends an engineer to my home to set things up with new router etc. Open Reach?...Yes/No?
2. I prefer to use a desktop computer rather than laptop etc
Are there any specific computer requirements for FTTP to work?
3 I note a Vodafone app is downloadable but is this an absolute 'must'?
Won't the FTTP connection simply link to my Desktop once I input the router password etc as has always been the case in all the time I've had broadband?
4 Am I right in thinking I now don't have to inform my ISP I'm switching?
a) Do I sign up with Vodafone ONLINE closer to contract end date and let them inform the ISP on my behalf?
Or
b) Do I have to actually PHONE Vodafone to arrange the switch?
Any comments or suggestions on the above would be appreciated and perhaps which Vodafone contract would best suit.
Many thanks

Hi again Jayach....Tried your suggested link, went to Gift Card page as before, this time showing £100!
The amount of the reward depends on the comparison site used, I used MSE.

Again, bottom left, clicking 'Complete your purchase via this link' produces nothing and I now anyway it's for you to purchase Gift Cards!!....LOL!
I don't know where you are getting the 'Complete your purchase via this link', I don't see any thing like that.
If I use that link, it takes me here:
I enter my email address (obviously you would enter yours), and press "Get Started", and it takes me to the Vodafone sign up page. Like this:
As you can see, adding my address on the previous page, has sent me an email, headed Vodafone, but it's actually from Giftcloud.
No idea why it should be different for you, can you try using a different device?

Just a thought, but I wonder if you are using a device with a low resolution display, so you are not seeing the option to "Enter your postcode to see what speeds you can get". Try scrolling down.

Hi Jayach....
I 'seemed' to have solved the sign-up problem!. At the infamous 'Gift Card' page, I'd already tried inputting different legitimate email addresses.
As you know, I tried it more than once and nothing happened
Then in occurred to me to use the same email address I use for the Community Forum.....and 'amazingly' it worked!
I knew it wasn't my computer or display causing the problem!. However, still doesn't make sense to me that you have to use a Forum email, unless it's a 'Vodafone identifier'
Anywhow, if you aren't totally sick of hearing about this (like me!) then if you can take a deep breath and answer the questions I orignally asked above then that would be great.
If not, then of course your call. I can only hope some other member can., preferably one who's done a recent provider switch.
BTW...I dd find out in my test 'sign-ups' that yes, as expected, they do ask for current provider and landline number....
Leastways, that's one query out of the way!!😁
Have a good weekend, Jayrach...
