Hey guys,
I've recently got a Meta Quest 3 and was looking to get 6E WiFi to use airlink at its best performance.
I currently have the older black Vodafone router with the WiFi 6 booster.
I could upgrade to the Pro broadband II to get the ultra Hub 6e router and 6e booster but it will end up costing me about an extra £10 a month and then obviously be subject to the yearly percentage price increase.
I can see people sell the ultra hub routers and the 6e boosters on ebay for a lot cheaper than the overall cost of upgrading my whole contract for 2 years.
My question is, could I purchase the 6e ultra Hub router and just swap it out with my current router and have no issues? Or even purchase the 6e booster and plug it in via ethernet to my current router? Is there any reason why this wouldn't work?
Thanks in advance for any help guys!

@Testinglad The 6 and 6E have the same maximum link bitrate. It's possible that you would not notice any difference.

Congestion on the 5ghz band is part of what I am concerned with. I've also seen reports online that latency is improved too.
Would be great to have an answer to my actual question though, thanks!

Your original question(s) are a bit "woolly"'
if you ask something specific. I'm sure we will try to answer it.

Ah apologies, I can see how I worded it could be confusing now. By issues I meant with Vodafone supplying the Internet, using the new equipment without being on the "correct plan" for that equipment.
Should everything work fine from a router replacemt standpoint? Alternatively would the 6e booster be recognised and function if I connected that to my current router?
(I'm not interested in anything to do with the Quest 3, that was just explaining why I was thinking about doing this)
Thanks!

In order to be suffering from congestion on the 5GHz band, you either need to have a high number of busy clients on your own network or live in a flat/apartment with WiFi-transparent walls.
As for latency, the difference here between WiFi5 and WiFi6 clients is a fraction of a millisecond.
If you are having issues then maybe you should describe the issues!

Unfortunately there isn't really enough experience of people using the Pro II ultra router on the standard service to be able to advise just how it would go for you.
Also using the boosters from the "wrong" router is not something many have tried, although the fact they need to be configured via the app may cause problems.
It may be worth taking a look at these 2 threads, as they discuss doing what you propose.

I've recently upgraded to this router & package and use a Quest 3.
In my so far limited tests, I really would not bother using the Booster.
Without the booster, I was getting 1400Mbps with latency of 45ms.
With the booster, I got 2000Mbps, but the latency shot up to 150ms which made using the Quest 3 completely unusable.

So in your post you only mention the booster, what about when connected to the router itself? Thanks for testing and replying btw!
