log into the router: click here http://192.168.1.1

enter the password under the router

go to wifi and turn 5ghz off

Thank you, but unfortunately this option is not presented to me, I have selected expert mode also.

hmmmmm

sure the opinion use to be there unless vodafone removed it like they did on the wifi channel

you can at least turn off the Broadcast SSID on the 5ghz to hide the 5ghz

I just checked mine and mine is the same

Thanks again, but I’m not seeing the option to turn off just 5ghz ssid.

@Stevepell Thanks for getting in touch! Due to the increased demand on the network with people working from home, we made the decision to remove the ability for customers to make changes to their broadband frequencies and channels so we can ensure that everyone can stay connected at all times. As the demand decreases, we may bring this feature back to the app but for now this is being handled by our Broadband Tech team. If you give them a call on 03333 040 191, they will help get this sorted for you 😊 Please do let us know how you get on!

.@Steph VF made one of the worst unhelpful decisions possible in doing this. Many devices do not see channels 12 an 13 on 2.4GHz. Also if the router thinks that channel X is best but doesn't know that in another room in the house that channel Y is better because of a neighbour's signal, then your customer cannot set the channel manually for their situation.

I agree with cynric

it's stupid

Thank you for replying, but unfortunately this is not a constructive action. Many home Wi-Fi connected devices cannot initialise properly if the 5ghz band is present, having the ability to temporarily suspend this allows connection. The 5ghz band can then be re-enabled.

As mentioned, this option was very useful, now all my smart lights and sockets are inoperative.

I’ll give the tech guys a call and see how we get on.

Best regards, Steve

I’ve had a chat to the technical department, really helpful chap, but alas not something currently achievable. This is tied up with going over to the pro system with the booster unit, appears that 5ghz channel is now automatically controlled and allocated to devices to optimise performance.

Looking on the BT hub site, similar issues apparent there.

Will have to look into other solutions to my issue, possibly Meross Sonoff will update their firmware.
