Struggling with landline number port out of Vodafone to a SIP provider - cupid code

I'm trying to port my landline number to another provider - in this case it is a SIP provider, so the landline is not being taken over.

My problem is that my SIP provider has submitted the porting request but Vodafone has rejected it since it has the wrong cupid code.  I think the cupid code is allocated by Ofcom and indentifies the provider's network.  Since Vodafone has acquired a number of providers - eg C&W, Energis, Thus etc, it has a number of cupid codes.  For each porting request that gets rejected I would be charged £20, so I am loath to go through all of the codes that Ofcom lists, and I'm not even sure if this list is complete.  I can't understand why Vodafone can't simply look at my phone number and recognise which network it is on and then do the port.  The SIP provider has had problems like this before with Vodafone and has asked me to call Vodafone and find out the code.  Customer services aren't much use as they had never heard of cupid codes.  Has anyone else had any joy with this or recommendations?  Hopefully someone from VF might be able to help if they monitor these boards.

I suggest you contact Vodafone support and keep asking for 2nd level support/supervisor until you get someone who can help. I did port a BT Landline number to Voipfone. The line was killed immediately, no would you like to remain a customer with a new number.

So one of our Broadband sepcialists can take a look into this for you @sworrall, please contact us through the link in this private message and we'll be in touch.

Same challenge here.. I figured out the CUPID code from the list OFCOM maintains here  and confirmed with Vodafone Broadband team by phone that 007 was the code to use (as opposed to codes that relate to Vodafone Thus, Energis etc). However, the number port using CUPID code 007 by the VOIP provider was rejected by Vodafone!

The VOIP provider is suggesting to try with the original number provider before Vodafone took on the contract.. in which case it will be BT as they originally installed and provided the service on the line, but which part of BT? They have at least 3 or 4 CUPID codes, BT, BT Wholesale etc.

@Vodafone - you must know the CUPID code for the line.. can you put me in touch with the right person who can give me the CUPID code and provider details so that I can port it away. Thanks.

I had some interesting responses from Vodafone.  Final one said that the CUPID codes were no longer used.  Anyway I think my SIP provider got lucky and the port was successful.  It's a bit of a pain with the CUPID codes since my SIP provider wanted to charge for each porting request.  Luckily I found someone at Vodafone that said that they would cover the porting charge for me.  I'm not sure that Vodafone is setup for porting to SIP providers.  I did get one response from Vodafone that they can't port without the line being taken over.

Sorry none of this really helps you.  Good luck.

Hey @indigowhite, I'm sorry you're also having issues with this. I'd like to look into this with you in further detail. Please see the private message I've sent to you.

I am also struggling to get the CUPID code to allow me to port my number to a VOIP provider.

I have spent about 40 minutes on the phone to Vodafone trying to get the code but they claim to not know what it is and are unable to offer any help about how to transfer my number to a VOIP provider.

I am totally fed up with Vodafone now. I have spent the last 2 years struggling with their below par broadband service.  I pay for Fibre38 with a minimum data rate of 10Mbps, and have never received the minimum rate during the two years that I have been with Vodafone and they have been unable to improve the speed despite numerous visits to the little green box.

I am now in touch with Ofcom because of this poor service and anti-competitive behavior. All I want to do is cancel my account and leave but I can't even do that. This is poor Vodafone.

Hey @Steve1976  , sorry you're having an issue with this.

The CUPID code’s an identifier used between us and Openreach when porting a number, but it's not something our advisors actually have visibility of.  We wouldn't normally need to give this to a customer.

We actually have several CUPID codes across our business so we'd need to check with Openreach which one relates to your number. I've sent you a private message with details on how to get in touch.

Hi - I've been having the same problems as described above - lengthy calls to customer services who seem unable to help (even though I've been put through to the porting team).

I'm trying to port my number to a VOIP provider, and they need the CUPID code to be able to make the porting request to the right 'section' of vodafone.

Please can you help?

I received a DM from the eforum.web team offering to help, and have done as they asked (twice), but haven't heard anything. I'm currently paying for broadband and phone that I don't use, and can't leave because nobody is responding to me.

Please can you respond to my request for the CUPID code for my phone number.
