ROUTER THG 3000 to TP-Link Extender Setup Problem
I recently renewed my Vodafone Broadband contract and upgraded to Super Fast 2.
With the contract came a new THG 3000 router to upgrade my old Vodafone HHG 2500.
Setup all straight forward.

As my house is quite large I have always used a TP-Link RE305 range extender.
The extender paired up easily to the router using the TP-Link Tether app and all the extender settings viewed via a web browser on my computer.

This is when things seemed to go wrong. When I tried to connect my phone, tablet (Android) and computer (MacBook) to the extender, it will not accept the setup password.
I have also tried a BT extender without success.
I have contacted Vodafone Support without any success, also TP-Link technical, they confirmed the extender is working correctly.

My question is, has anybody else experienced this problem, why does the HHG 2500 work ok and not the THG 3000?

Thanks for the replies on here - looks like we'll be returning the TP extender. I'd rather not replace the router as it works well enough.

Has anyone found an extender that does work or do I need to give up on my dream of working in the garden on sunny days? 😅

Do you have the RE305, as per the thread title? I find it difficult to believe it wouldn't work with the THG3000.

How exactly, doesn't it work?

Nope - Vodafone have done nothing to address this issue. 30m enthernet cable with router in the loft was my solution. Not ideal but it was the only option to get the WiFi. Still can only get WiFi it in some parts of the house, but can get it to my office. If it is in the loft you might get it outside.

Good luck!

Did you try Powerline rather than 30m of cable? Here are some examples, but there are many others. Some house wiring may work better than others. I've have had a good experience with Powerline, but other contributors to this forum have been less successful.

Go into the device setting for extender. Mine had a 30 char password when I first looked at it. Change the password for both 2.4g and 5g to your wireless network password and you should be good to go. I took me about 2 hours to diagnose my issue but is simple when you know how.
