Las anyone successfully replaced the Vodafone router with a USG.
I have entered the PPPOE credentials into the USG but never get a connection. The USG has been updated. I have FFTP via CityFibre. Connecting the USG to the vodafone router doesn't work as the router has no bridge mode and hence two DNS servers and same IP address etc.
Ubiquiti suggest simply reseting the MAC on the USG to match the Vodafone router.
Any suggestions welcome..
BTW I have tried Vodafone's customer helpline - and received nothing that was helpful.
Solved! Go to best answer.

The big one is the use the ethernet port on the ONT to connect directly to a PC and check the settings that way.
Vodafone are terrible for giving people the wrong login credentials, and in the case of FTTP giving the incorrect VLAN ID - in most cases it should be 911 (not the 101 you'd use for VDSL). However, VF FTTP in some locations is using other VLAN IDs!

Thanks for the response.
I have had issue on Virgin and udm pro, and had put a simple switch in between to address my intermittent connection issue. One of the ways to address this was use WAN2. I’ll let you know how I get on.
On testing, on PC any idea how add the vlan ID to pppoe connect on windows ?

Update 1:
Windows testing OK.
Note: Wasted a day on assuming 101 which I was told by Vodafone was correct. VLAN ID is 911 if anyone in Kirklees area trying this.

All - thank you for response. Windows tested OK, UDM Pro up and running on WAN2.
However, for 900 my speed is poor...its slower than my 350mb Virgin connection. The speed is from my wired connection and it was same on the Vodafone router.
Support said give it few days...so I was connected on Thursday 4th...so do I wait or is this an issue ?

Hi
I would and wait see what Voda says. I've had gigafast over 3 months now only see 600-700 Download and 900 Upload at the time. See how it goes pal
Thanks

What are your speeds like with one device connected via ethernet to the Vodafone router? And was the speed test you were running via a computer or the inbuilt speed test in the udm controller?
This was pretty much the same problem I had with the udm pro with pppoe throughput. My USG3 puts through 900+ up and down, consistently.
If it's the same issue it won't be able to be resolved with Vodafone, it's because there's no hardware offloading taking place within the udm pro. There's a massive thread on the ubiquti forums with people all over having problems. You might see your true speeds once in a blue moon.
It's a shame as it's a great bit of kit, in theory.

Hi, getting Gigafast installed soon in Bournemouth and I have a USG setup with a UAP-AC-LR. I read on the Vodafone support site that FaceTime, WhatsApp, Skype etc wont work with your own router? Has anyone managed to get these working?
Thanks in advance
Adam

Where on earth did you read that? The supplied equipment is not brilliant, but if you have your own equipment VF don't block anything that they aren't required to by law!

That’s what I thought!
