When will Vodafone offer FTTP via Openreach?

Openreach has now (finally) delivered FTTP to this rural area since Jan 2020 and thus my property shows up as FTTP available on the Openreach website with capability of "up to 1000Mbps".

However, only BT seems to offer FTTP ("Ultrafast Fibre 900") and Vodafone is only showing up with FTTC products for this area (as of June 2020). Right now on the copper line and with the Vodafone Superfast FTTC product, I am getting 2Mbps (and sporadic and unreliable at that).

As a Vodafone mobile customer (and existing Vodafone broadband customer), I would love to go with Vodafone for FTTP. I can see that Vodafone only seem to offer FTTP via CityFibre (at certain locations), but also see news from various sources that Vodafone will be offering FTTP via Openreach.

When will Vodafone start offering an FTTP product via Openreach, and hopefully offer similar prices to its Gigafast lineup? There are PLENTY of customers who would go with Vodafone if they offered an FTTP product via Openreach. Right now, it seems I would have no choice and would have to go with BT to get the benefits of Full Fibre (of 900Mbps) to the property.

Hey @JamesBand

It can take a while for other providers to take advantage of Openreach's new infrastructure, but the Website is up to date if you keep checking your postcode here

In regards to the City Fibre, we have selected certain cities for installation and you can also check your postcode along with more information here

My address went live back in March, Vodafone still not listing it as available 6 months later!

Well, that is very disappointing to hear ... not going to wait 6 months.

I've just contacted Sky and they confirmed I can order it today, so no idea why VF is dragging its heels.

As you say, you can't order what's not there

@mpfj 100%! I can literally order FTTP with every provider except Vodafone, It's ludicrous that they're willing to let customers go elsewhere!

@Nabs How is the Sky service ?  They seem to be the best next option ...

I also rang TalkTalk and they seem to be identical to VF ... not able to provide a service even though Openreach say it's possible.  Go figure !!

My service has been spot on @mpfj
Only complaint is that they're more restrictive than Vodafone in terms of using your own hardware but they've got a good community that has plenty of info on getting around those restrictions if you need to.

Well, just a quick update ... when the website told me no fibre was available, I did "register my interest" on the VF website to be kept informed of any changes.

This was only a couple of days ago, so imagine my surprise when I just had a callback from VF saying they'll look into it and try to see what can be done.

They'll ring me back within 4 weeks with an update ... so I'll hang fire till then and see what transpires.

Fingers crossed 🤞

Good luck , this happened to me and all I got is a 'we are working in bringing it to your area'

Well, I was afraid of that but I'll give them a chance 🤔

I had a "fun" time with a Sky sales person the other week. He was absolutely adamant that I could have Sky fibre. I kept telling him that there were no T-boxes in the street and he was going on that a neighbour has it and so could I. Well the neighbour had it but moved to BT but it doesn't matter because the neighbour got the fibre because they have a property boundary with another street. I eventually told him that I could get the diagrams of all the underground services in my street if he really wanted and meanwhile he could put in a planning request to dig up 100 yards of road to lay fibre from the nearest Sky cabinet. That did the trick and he gave-up trying. Are these guys on sales commission? So do make sure that the infrastructure is in place first is the lesson of the day 🙂
