hi

I'm hoping someone can help with a connection problem. I have a new Redmi AX6000 with openwrt 23.05.5 installed on it. I am getting a timeout error

daemon.warn pppd[23686]: Timeout waiting for PADO packets
daemon.err pppd[23686]: Unable to complete PPPoE Discovery

I know the login details are correct, I am reading conflicting reports on vlan 101 tagging, and I've tried many ways to configure the router to connect to no avail.

I am sure I'm not the only person who has run into this issue, so if some kind soul could either give me some step by step instructions or a copy of a working /etc/config/network from which to work from I'd be super grateful. Thanks

If you're on fttc (vdsl) then the vlanid of 101 would be correct. If you're on Cityfibre fttp (black ONT) then vlanid would be 911. If you're on openreach fttp (white ONT) then the vlanid is either left blank or 802.1q is disabled altogether, if you have that option. The only exception I know of to the above is Openreach fttp provided by Kingston Communications (Hull area) where the vlanid is 101.

Thanks, the support team told me vlan 101, but I can try 911. Can I just confirm that to do this you'd create a 802.1q vlan in the devices tab, label it 911 and then go back to the wan interface and change the device to the newly created wan.911?

But do you have a black or white ONT? Need to know your carrier

I have a black ONT, cityfibre

Then yes, vlanid 911 and wan.911

Have you had a look on the OpenWRT forums? So much info, and so many ways to get the settings messed up.

Indeed, some very old posts relating to swconfig and then newer ones which don't work. Very confusing. I will try creating a new vlan using wan and tagging it 911 and then amending the wan connection to use wan.911. if that doesn't work could I have your config?

I'm not running OpenWrt on this router.

solved it was indeed vlan.911 and not vlan.101 as support had told me. Thanks
