Using a payg sim in a mobile data modem

I've been using a vodafone pay as you go sim for mobile data in our mobile modem at the caravan. The original dat has run out and there is still three days before renewal. I bought a 20 boost last night online (after trying on my phone and giving up after half an hour.)

Is there a way to enable the crefit/data pack i have before the thirty day renewal?

You can certainly renew a Big Value Bundle early @kerbdog but you will lose any  remaining allowances and any roll over data. 

Just purchase as usual and the new bundle will start at midnight and be valid for 30 days.

I've just spent a rather frustrating thirty minutes on the phone trying to get this sorted only to be told the credit/data on my account has been used (all 40Gb of data!) which is quite a feat considering the sim wasn't in any device as it would not connect to internet in the first place.
