Hi Vodafone,

The information on the website states that esim is not available to PAYG customers but I have to option in MyVodafone to change my SIM into an eSIM. What happens if I try to switch a PAYG from a SIM to a eSIM trough that MyVodafone procedure?

Thanks,

George

The esim email can be hit and miss for pay monthly customers too. It's possible that Vodafone have implemented changes preventing pay go users from now switching to esim, will test again later and see if it still works for me...

You should only ever submit the request once and wait patiently as multie requests will likely screw things up.

Hi @WelshPaul ,

Just got an e-mail with the QR code (password protected PDF).
Deleted the eSIM from current device and loaded it onto another device and all works as it should. :Smiling:

As soon as I loaded the eSIM onto the new device I got another e-mail from VF with the same PDF document same QR Code advising what to do, if I want to swap to another device :Smiling:

I am impressed :Smiling:

Hi,

Just to confirm what you have done, as looking to do similar to not have to switch my phone via PAC codes all the time.

You ordered an physical SIM from Vodafone as PAYG and then via the website request an eSIM which is then sent to your email - I assume this is near instant/relatively fast.

Thanks,

Eloise :Smiling:

Not sure what you mean about PAC codes, but see my earlier post about how I converted my PAYG SIM to an e-SIM

An update based on my experience with this topic.

I activated a new SIM bought from TESCO on 4 days ago. I then registered an online account and topped up £10. The £10 BVB was activated automatically.

I tried this URL https://www.vodafone.co.uk/webcenter/portal/myvodafone/pages_accountprofilesettings/simswap

- on the first day it said I don't have a SIM

- on the second day it said I requested too many SIM swaps in the last 24 hours

- on the third day it said I already have the maximum number of SIMs allowed on the account

- on the fourth day the swap to eSIM worked

When I went to the store on day 3, the person said she is not able to help get an eSIM on PAYG as it's not supported, but noticed that my account was showing as not registered - i.e. SIM with no online account. So perhaps the issue was caused by records propagating slowly between their systems.

Thank you Vodafone for trialing this and working to support eSIM on PAYG!

@rarecat - Thanx for sharing.

Just in case someone else has the same problem here is my story when my eSIM did not unload correctly from my watch when swapping with another EU eSIM.

I basically got stuck. You can not log in into My Vodafone as there is no way to receive the confirmation SMS !!!

So I tried calling VF CS (that is based in Egypt/Alexandria) and they ware no help at all, as it's not supported on PAYG so sorry nothing we can do !!!!

So I tried escalating to VF UK, but that leads to nowhere as well, not supported on PAYG, so ##~## off.

So at the end I resulted in requesting replacement SIM, when it arrived I had to phone up again VF CS, as there is still no way to do the SIM swap on-line via  https://www.vodafone.co.uk/simswap
as you can't received the SMS !!!! Anyhow I got the VF CS on
+44 333 304 3346 (standard call charges apply) or
+44 7836 191 191
to swap my PAYG eSIM number back onto physical SIM, and then via the My VF portal

https://www.vodafone.co.uk/webcenter/portal/myvodafone/pages_accountprofilesettings/simswap

back onto the eSIM again ‌:Smiling:

So 1st I would definitely log into my VF Account before unloading eSIM ‌:Smiling:
and then try to maybe re-issue new one?

Does anyone have any advise on what to do when swapping the VF PAYG eSIM to another device and it fails to unload the eSIM profile correctly?

I've signed up for a new PAYG sim yesterday, and swapped to e-sim on my iPhone using the link there. It was super simple process, took less than 5 minutes! cheers for sharing the link here guys!

@t3sla_3 what steps did you follow exactly?

Because I tried the same thing but I got error messages.

This is what I did:

  1. - received physical SIM sent via post
  2. - put it in my iPhone 14 and received SMS that it was successfully activated
  3. - registered it on the Vodafone site
  4. - went to the URL to swap SIMs
  5. - requested a QR code
  6. - Received error "Your order wasn't placed, as there's been a problem."

I then tried the same but instead of selecting QR code I entered my EID number. Error again. Haven't received any emails...

@multiforme any updates? were you able to do anything?

Filled in the form on the address
https://www.vodafone.co.uk/webcenter/portal/myvodafone/pages_accountprofilesettings/simswap
Pressed submit and got this error:

Confirm your details

Your order wasn't placed, as there's been a problem.

You currently have an eSIM order in progress. Please wait 24 hours from the original order, and try again.

Thanx to @WelshPaul  for the direct link :Smiling: You are star.

How long did it take for the e-mail to arrive after submitting the request?
