Hi Vodafone,

The information on the website states that esim is not available to PAYG customers but I have to option in MyVodafone to change my SIM into an eSIM. What happens if I try to switch a PAYG from a SIM to a eSIM trough that MyVodafone procedure?

Thanks,

George

For anyone doing the same... #

To confirm, I’ve changed to an eSIM on PAYG today!

Last week i just grabbed a 99p Vodaphone SIM form a local shop, signed up for a PAYG. plan with a small £ amount topped up

Went into my Account:

Settings / Plan Settings (View) / Manage My SIM / Activate Replacement SIM.

Selected: eSIM

Selected: Enter device EID manually. ( then entered the EID of my phone SIM Slot)

It seems they may have changed that menu as there was no eSIM option for me, instead ‘Activate a new physical SIM for your plan’.

Ordered one on-line

https://freesim.vodafone.co.uk/

it got delivered 2 days later.
Registered and activated the SIM.

Waited 24 hours and next day visited

https://www.vodafone.co.uk/webcenter/portal/myvodafone/pages_accountprofilesettings/simswap
and swapped to eSIM and received the e-mail 4 minutes later with the QR and SM-DP+ Address :Winking_smiley:

PLEASE NOTE:
If you want to swap the eSIM to another device, make sure you log in to your account first,
(as you would not receive the auth SMS once something goes wrong ...)
just in case it does not work, so you can request new eSIM or physical SIM..........right away ......

Do not count on CS to help you wiht the eSIM ....you just may have to request physical SIM replacement ....

I am trying the same steps but I have to receive the eSIM via email despite the Web procedure seemed to work.

Did you top up the sim before requesting the eSIM?

Thanks

Nope, when SWAPing from SIM to eSIM on PAYGi t's always with £0 credit :Winking_smiley:

Thanks, maybe I didn't wait long enough the first time. Confirmed that the process still works as you described it. Thanks for sharing it!

Just "registered" on-line already activated SIM [2 weeks] (PAYG)
and on the SIM Swap Website

https://www.vodafone.co.uk/webcenter/portal/myvodafone/pages_accountprofilesettings/simswap

entered my watch "EID" (Embedded SIM Identifier) number,

connected my watch to Wi-Fi and seconds later the watch downloaded the eSIM profile ....
no need for APP on the mobile to connect and pair with the watch etc. very nice .....

After the eSIM profile was loaded I also received e-mail with the QR Code instructions ......

You can use an eSIM with your PAYG service @WelshPaul. Check out our online help for more information on how to do this.
