Account Owner In Ex Partner Name - Everything Else In My Name - How To Change Owner

As the title.

Me and my now ex partner went into a Vodafone store in July 2023, and because I could not get a contract, my now ex partner got the contract in their name. However the rest of the account has always had my details... Email, Airtine Direct Debit, Home Address, Contract Phone Number, Alernative Phone Number.

It won't let me set up a Direct Debit for the Device plan as it has to be in the owners name (ex partner) who I have had nothing to do with for a year and lives 50 miles away.

How the heck do you get the Owner of the account changed, so I can set up a Direct Debit for the Device Plan, as I am at the moment paying for it manually every month (with the same bank details/card as the Airtime Direct Debit), and of course when it come to the Airtime contract end next year, the owner on the account is of course my ex partner who I have no way of contact.

The only thing I have seen is ownership change possible if the Airtime and Device plans have been paid in full, which of course they have not.

The Airtime Plan ends next July 2025 and Device Plan July 2026. When I want to query anything, they only want to speak to my ex partner.

Online chat are useless so maybe someone on here might know

Thanks

I think this maybe the form you've aleready checked @JH7704, but to move everything on your account to your name, you'll need to complate a Transfer of Ownership form. However we will need some contact details for your ex-partner to complete the move of the account into your name, as we'll need their permission to do this with it currently in their name.

Thanks for the reply

What about this part though:

We can only transfer your account if:

  • You're not planning to upgrade to a Device Plan. You can upgrade to a new SIM only plan after seven days – to start a new Device Plan you'll need to wait 90 days
  • You've paid off all airtime and device loans in full. If you have any issues, please contact us

The device plan is a credit agreement in your ex partners name @JH7704 , the only thing possible to change ownership will be the airtime plan and your ex would need to authorise the name change.

This is something Vodafone mention on the change of ownership link.

@Mark

Dont know if you have seen my reply to your response, but on the Ownership Form where it asks for:

About the current account holder:

  • Email address of account holder (ALWAYS BEEN MY EMAIL)
  • Contact phone number (IS MY VODAFONE NUMBER)
  • Number to be transferred (IS ALSO MY VODAFONE NUMBER)

These are my details on the account from when the contract was taken out in July 2023. Like I said, the only thing on the account not in my name on the account dashboard/profile is the Owner.

If the name on the account is your ex-partners, we'll be able to transfer this into your name using the form, despite the contact information being in your name @JH7704. As AnnS advised, the device loan will remain in your ex-partners name and be reflected in their credit file.
If you'd like us to double check the information provided is correct, please pop us a message through our social channels. Please be aware if the account is in your partners name, we'll be unable to discuss this with you.

@Mark

So in the Transfer of Ownership form can you clear up what to put in the boxes....

About the current account holder:

The address you provide here will need to match our records for security.
Title (ME or EX PARTNER)
First name (ME or EX PARTNER)
Last name (ME or EX PARTNER)
Date of birth (MINE or EX PARTNER)
Current Vodafone account number (THE ACC NUMBER ON THE ACCOUNT)
Address finder (MY CURRENT ADDRESS or EX PARTNER)
Email address of account holder (MINE AS ON THE ACCOUNT or EX PARTNER)
Contact phone number (VODAFONE NUMBER I AM CURRENTLY ON AS THE ACCOUNT or EX PARTNER)
Number to be transferred (VODAFONE NUMBER I AM CURRENTLY ON AS THE ACCOUNT)

Also what will be required in my opening message to Vodafone on any of the social channels?

Thanks

It say's 'Current account holder'. That would be your ex partner.

It sounds like the account has been split @JH7704 with details in your name but the account in your ex name. Your are going to  need help from your ex, he will need to  complete the form and give his authorisation.

Vodafone will complete an identity and credit check before the transfer.

Thanks @AnnS

This is going to be a nightmare. Not going to be easy find a way to get in touch 😞

Can you just clear up what needs to go in the following boxes on the Transfer contact form please

Address finder (MY CURRENT ADDRESS or EX PARTNER)
Email address of account holder (MINE AS ON THE ACCOUNT or EX PARTNER)
Contact phone number (VODAFONE NUMBER I AM CURRENTLY ON AS PER THE ACCOUNT or EX PARTNERS)
Number to be transferred (OBVIOUSLY THE VODAFONE NUMBER I AM CURRENTLY ON AS PER THE ACCOUNT)

Also the next section of the Transfer form at:

About the new account owner and AFTER Address history for the last three years, will all be the same details as on the account including bank details. Will this cause problems of what seems to be copying the form fields from About the current account holder and About the new account owner

Thanks
