Blacklisting my IMEI number - Vodafone refusing to blacklist it!

I am beyond frustrating and banging my head against a brick wall. I have contact Vodafone 10 times, my insurance company More Than 4 times and Apple 3 times.

My phone was stolen on June 2nd and I requested my network provider block the phone. I provided proof that the SIM was blocked to my insurance company but they require evidence that the IMEI number was also blacklisted. Despite repeated requests, Vodafone are refusing because I purchased the phone direct from Apple - they say its Apple that have to do this. But Apple insist they do not have these capabilities and my insurance company advice me that ONLY my network provider can do this And research on the internet suggests the same thing. Interestingly the insurance company said they get this problem all the time from network providers, with Vodafone being the worst! And that I will just have to keep asking them until someone does it for me.

If it was over a small amount of money I'd have given up - this just isn't worth the stress. But we are talking about £500!

Does anyone know how the hell I can make Vodafone blacklist my IMEI number? I have run out of options. I might go into an Apple shop (where they are always so helpful) and ask them to get on the phone to Vodafone with me and force them to undestand that only they have the capabilty to block the IMEI.....

Nothing will make me happier at this point than to leave Vodafone, but sadly I am locked down in a contract until October  I hate them.

@vic_pet I can't find an email from the email address registered to your Community account.

You'd have received a unique reference number to say we'd had your email, it would look like [#123344556].

If you haven't received this from us, we won't have received yours. If this is the case, please try to submit the form again and let us know how you get on. If you have received this number, please let us know what it is and we can then chase this up.

I am having the exact same problem.  Please let me know if you got anywhere! Absolute nightmare. I've always praised Vodafone for their customer service but now I can't wait to end my contract. There is no loss to them for blacklisting the phone so what is the issue! ?

Hi

I am having a similar issue. I have requested for my phone to be blocked several times however I have received the below from the insurance company.

Proof of your handset being Blacklisted: Your handset is still not showing as being blacklisted with your network on the national database and the document provided shows Proof of barring for the sim card but not for the handset.

@Devhirani I've responded to you on a previous thread.

ya please can someone help me get confirmation my iPhone has been barred or blacklisted. My insurance company is asking for this and I have tried in store and using your proof of usage online. It’s been nearly a month now and I’m getting very frustrated please can someone help.

Why cant Vodafone provide me with this.

They should have obviously supplied this info @Gwalshaw  by filling out the form.

There is no account access via this forum anymore.

You would need to persevere with customer service or via the Vodafone Social Media Teams via Contact-us-for-account-specific-queries.

I wish you all the best with this situation.

I got mine recently  after contacting customer service thru Facebook. It took a while but I did get there eventually, so persevere!  I had tried through chat & emailing customer services but it was the FB team that finally sorted it.

GREAT thanks for the advise. I think I have managed to sort it through chat online. I will wait and see if I actually receive the documents. I did try through Facebook but they just don’t respond. I just doubt understand why you have to go through 10 different channels to get something simple. Not the best Process at all and very frustrating. Nothing seems simple and everything is either online.

Gone are are the days of going to the store and getting what you need right then and there!  Frustrated customer

Hey. Sorry I did not reply sooner. Its a complete nightmare. I was nearly in tears over this several times. Literally called Vodafone over 20 times. Tried everything and every department. Unfortunately I have no magic answer. You have to try and try and try again, until you EVENTUALLY get someone who is willing to help. I got lucky on my 4th trip to a Vodafone store, in Holbourn - London. An amazing man Tarun Mahey. I wanted to hug him. All I can say is, ignore everything Vodafone say. They CAN blacklist you IMEI! And no one else can.

Hi @vic_pet. Glad u got this sorted. Im stuck in the same situation. Would yyo be willing to PM me the details of what they did so i can get my local Vodafone to do the same?

Thanks!
