How sad it is that I'm unable to place an order for my new Vodafone sim as I want to port from EE network.
I filled all the information and in the end, get a vague message
"Something's not quite right with your personal details
Please double check your personal details and billing address to make sure everything is correct. Then place your order again to continue."
On calling the customer care, I got to understand that the ID verification step failed because "I wasn't living in UK for past 3 years!". I've never faced such dumb issue with any other platforms and even online banking. I've moved to UK in March 2020, prior to that I was in India since birth.
There's no option to upload any supporting documents if Vodafone is really concerned about this step that they won't let the person order a sim at all.
What's more surprising is that the customer executive asked me to visit the Vodafone store physically to provide my identity documents during this time when I'm self isolating.
Are we living in 1990s, wherein I have to be physically present at the stores to get this minimal thing of id verification done. What's the point of digitalising when you have to resort to these older way of doing things. Vodafone could've asked me to present it through an online link or even email like other providers but no.
Shame on Vodafone for giving such a disappointing experience to its new customers. Wasted my morning on this. I'll rather stick to EE than waste my time on such lousy so called web platforms.

Totally appreciate your disappointment at being turned down for a Pay Monthly Contract.
All UK Networks perform Credit Checks on a person applying for a Pay Monthly Contract.
More information is held in credit-checks if your interested in reading the explanation.
Vodafone wouldn't be able to tell you why you were declined only that their systems said No.
It is most likely however due to the length of time you've been resident in the UK.
If you really want to move to Vodafone and Vodafone offer good signal and data speeds where you live, commute or work then you could chose a Payg option and move your number to that.
However Payg does not include a phone but you could ask your current network to unlock it to all networks if it isn't already so it'll accept the Vodafone Payg sim card.
I'm sure this isn't what you were looking for but I thought it worth mentioning.
Then when you meet the criteria there is Sim only or the full Pay Monthly option.
I wish you all the best with this.
