Hi,
I have an 18 month contract due to end on 9th March, I want to leave on the day of the contract ending(not prior) as the last 10 months I've barely used any calls, texts and data because of covid.
I don't care about losing my number and i won't be getting a new sim until covid has stopped affecting my life.
So what do i do? I've noticed people mentioning PAC codes etc. but i don't need one as I'm not getting a new sim. I just want to leave when contract ends.
Can i do this on the website or do i have to call someone?
I'd rather do it on website as i have anxiety with phonecalls (hence why i don't use my calls) but will call if i have to.
As the contract says it ends on March 9th, do i contact them now or 30 days before contract finishes? I would want to know the exact date as i don't want to pay an extra month needlessly.
TO summarise, contract ends March 9th, i want to leave Vodafone and i don't want my number. I will not be joining another network.
Thanks in advance, if you can help me!

Hi @Hibernian88
The best way is by using a STAC code or a PAC is you wanted to keep the number. See here How to leave Vodafone?
Just get someone you know on an alternative network to submit the STAC on the 9th March to their network this won't have any effect on their account and the contract will end. As you will be out of contract this will leave you only needing to pay up to the day the STAC was submitted.
Otherwise, it's going to mean calling Customer Services and passing data protection to cancel the contract.

Hi @Hibernian88
I appreciate what your saying about calls but I would suggest to make that call via 191 and end the contract that way.
Please don't cancel your Direct Debit until you've paid the final bill and you receive a £0 bill / sorry your leaving letter.

a STAC is an easy way and quite acceptable way to cancel a contract when you don't want to keep the number, as in your case.
You can also submit the STAC yourself, just order a PAYG SIM from any other network, top up a small amount and make a chargeable activity to get the SIM active, submit the STAC to the other network using online chat, the Vodafone contract will immediately end on the 9th March. This saves all the trouble of contacting Vodafone and going through the Customer Service channels. Or, go the PAC route and keep the same number.
When the Vodafone contact is ended you can do what you like with the other SIM.
All the information is on the cancellation link.

Each time my vodafone contracts end, they automatically continue on whatever price it is until i change to a new deal. They ask for 30 day notice for making changes, so do i need to give them 30 day notice if i am using a STAC? Or do i simply enter the STAC on the day Vodafone say my contract 'ends' without the 30 day notice?
Thanks for responding

Yes @Hibernian88
When you are out of contract, no need for 30 days notice. Networks have simplified leaving with being able to get a STAC or PAC by text, saves having to speak to Customer Services and go through the data protection questions.
There is also further information from the Ofcom here: End it with a text

So the way the STAC is setup, i must have a new SIM to enter it into for it to make me leave Vodafone?
If i do get new pay as you go sim, do i enter STAC before i top up the new sim or after a top up? Just wondering if it could affect the process.
Also, my Vodafone contract ends on 9th March, so which date should i enter the STAC?
Sorry, for all my questions. I just want to be clear so no money is lost.
Thanks for every reply!

Hi @Hibernian88
PAC and STAC codes are valid for 30 days.
You get the PAYG SIM from any other network, top up and make a quick chargeable connection to activate the SIM.
Text for the STAC and submit the STAC to the other network on your contract end date, this will end the Vodafone contract and generate the final 0.00 bill. Just keep the direct debit open until this has been received and the Vodafone account will be closed. See here: Final Bill
