Debt Collection Letter

TFO1

I have received a letter from Vodafone dated 11.11.21 advising me that an amount totalling £147.00 made up of £76.00 for a handset and £71.00 arrears has been handed over to a Debt Collection Agency - CCS Collect

I have not been a customer of Vodafone since December 2012 and this is the first contact we have had since that time.

I have gone through all my accounts relating to Vodafone and all invoices are listed in date order from October 2004 until contract was not renewed in December 2012 and there are no outstanding amounts.

They have given me until 5 days from the letter date of 11.11.21 to respond, two of which are Saturday & Sunday, before charges are added to the 'outstanding' balance.

Please can someone advise as to what I should do because this has to be wrong

Many thanks

Best advice would be to act ASAP to make contact with Vodafone @TFO1

If they've supplied some contact us details on the correspondence then use those.

0333 3040191 is a number to call Vodafone or use a phone e with a Vodafone sim in and call 191.

Account access isn't available on this forum however the Vodafone Social Media Team's via Twitter DM or Facebook Messenger have this access.

Contact-us-for-account-specific-queries.

Then once this is all resolved I'd also suggest to check your Credit File.

I wish you all the best with this.

It's worth adding that, at this stage, the frontline Customer Service people won't be able to see any details, so might tell you there's nothing in your name.   This needs to be escalated to Credit File Support and that's often best done by making initial contact on social media (Facebook or Twitter).   The fact that this is broken down by handset and airtime makes me think this might be a recent contract (the division only happened recently) and therefore could be fraud.   I doubt that an account from 2012 would be resurrected at this stage, or split like this.   (I'm assuming that you cancelled that account when you say "was not renewed", but even if you hadn't, I'd expect the amount to be larger and have been sorted long ago).
