Hi,
I've just bought a phone off someone.
This phone was a vodafone pay monthly contract iphone that they didn't want.
So in that respect is all good, and they showed me the invoice etc.
However, it got me thinking.
Are they able to sell the phone whilst they are still under contract?
And if they were to not pay the bill for any reason, would my phone get IMEI blocked?

With Evo contracts @btv128 the phone is entirely separate from the airtime part of the contract. The owner would be free to do what ever they wished with the phone, including selling the phone.
The only thing to consider is the seller is also entitled to report the phone as lost or stolen, the invoice would be in the sellers name, and purchasing the phone would be entirely at your own risk.
edited to add: What has likely happened here @btv128 is the original owner upgraded and rather than use Trade In here : Evo sold the phone privately. Hopefully, you won't have anything to be concerned about.

Hello @btv128
The phone is theirs to sell.
However if the account holder does not pay the bill then usually the network will suspend the person's account stopping outgoing calls , texts and messages.
A Network would really only imei block a phone known as blacklisting if they tell the network they've lost or had the phone stolen.
If I can be of any further help then please don't hesitate. Take care. 😎
