Incorrect default on credit file

Hello all,

In 2019 I entered arrears with Vodafone after, I thought, cancelling my account and closing the direct debit. Unbeknownst to me, my file was passed to debt collection agency in November 2019 for the sum of £92 and a default placed on my credit report, with no contact attempted by Vodafone. I settled this in it's entirety, with fees, 6 days later in November 2019. However, the default still shows as active, and it is stopping me get a mortgage. I have had no luck getting any help through the support channels and so I am pleading to you to give me a contact in your credit team that can help me remedy this ASAP.

Engage with the Vodafone Social Media Team's via Contact-us-for-account-specific-queries as they have a dedicated Credit File Specialist Team who can investigate the Default for you.

They are not customer facing so there is no number for them.

Unfortunately we do see cases where person has closed their direct debit down before getting a sorry your leaving letter and £0 bill when ending a contract.

If Vodafone feel they've exhausted means of collection they can sell the debt to a debt collection agency and are not required to pre warn a person they are adding a Default that lasts 6 years.

Paying off the amount should change its status to settled instead of outstanding which looks better on your file.

I know how damaging a default can be from my own personal experience so I wish you all the best with this @jaytay111

Hello,

Thank you very much for that. I have tried contacting via twitter but not had any luck yet. Will try facebook as well.

I don't believe they exhausted means of collecting, they didn't even try to phone or text for example.
