Moving from Vodafone to Voxi directly or via pac

Hi,

are there any any benefits in transferring directly from Vodafone to Voxi, rather than moving to another provider first and ending with voxi eventually?

Background

- Been with Vodafone as monthly contract customer for several years. Sim only deals they offered at the end of the contract are not as good as what Voxi offers (and I’d be stuck for 12/24 months with Vodafone), so want to move to Voxi

- I can move smoothly to Voxi directly by asking voxi customer support, continuing I guess to appear in their books as an existing customer, given it’s the same group (no pac code etc).

- however Voxi doesn’t see me as a New customer, which means I don’t qualify for the welcome offer where new customers presented by someone get £10-20 Amazon vouchers.  (Friends with benefits)

- Only way to get the voucher is to leave Vodafone with pac code, transfer the number on an existing sim I have from another provider and then transfer it again to the voxi sim I ordered via friends with benefit link

I know it seems like a complex process for £10-20 but it’s more a matter of principle now.
i find it silly that someone moving to voxi from o2 or three would get better treatment than me, coming from Vodafone.

I explained this to voxi, that following the annoying process above I’ll still get the £10 voucher in the end, but there is a risk I might eventually move to another provider in the process . They didn’t bulge. Computer says no voucher for Vodafone customers.

Question: who decides these silly rules? And can’t they see they might lead to losing good customers?

Practical question: do I have any benefits in transferring directly from Vodafone to Voxi (not getting £10 voucher) , hence retaining my history wjth them as an existing customer or the group (eg better discounts in future)?

I don't know what your data needs are, but Affordable Mobiles have some rather erm... affordable Vodafone sim only deals if you can be bothered with claiming cashback by sending in bills. On the HotUKDeals website the hot one atm is 12gb for about £2 a month if you go via Quidco or TCB. Certainly beat Voxi.

(To keep your number, you'd likely need to port out for a day to another provider's payg free sim then back into your new Voda.)

Hey,

Not seen that much of Voxi but it seems from your post that their acquisition perks aren't aimed at people switching to them from Vodafone rather than an actual competitor.

But to echo the reply above, if you're going to port out to another network to then port back in (which makes perfect sense so you can benefit from acquisition deals) then you may as well see what else is out there.

In addition to the partner sites mentioned above, it might be worth checking out mobiles.co.uk (the online arm of Dixons CarphoneWarehouse).

This is the route I took,

- Ordered a new sim only deal from mobiles.co.uk

- As part of the order journey, it asked if I was an existing VF customer, I clicked yes and shared details

- They simply added the new line to my existing account (same acct number etc.)

- I ported out my number to EE which then left only the new line on my VF acct

- I ported back in

So I got what I wanted without having to change any of My Vodafone details. Didn't have to set up a new D/D, didn't even go through a credit check. For the sake of porting out and back, it was easy and worth it!

Thanks I’ll have a look, though I’m not interested in offers that require sending back bills etc.

I looked at all competitors out there and voxi at £10 with 12GB of data seems like the best option, especially without getting hooked for 12 months.
Also Voxi offers 5G speed, and EU roaming. Plus all social media data is free.

Whereas Vodafone basic plans (which I assume the one you mention above is) don’t offer any roaming  (it doesn’t work abroad) and it’s only 4G (though this is a lesser issue).

I guess the answer to my question is that Vodafone doesn’t care if I’m a long term customer paying £40+ a month for years or a new one. Actually new ones normally get a better deal.
