No 5g despite meeting criteria (iPhone 12 pro max)

Hi so I have iPhone 12 and I’m living within the 5g network coverage as I get my home internet via Vodafone 5g. All setting in mobile data are set to 5g and I can stand under the 5g mast and still not get it anyone know why

From what I've read a person has to be pretty close to an actual 5G module and other conditions need to be optimum such as weather etc @CartoonHead

From @PedroC1999  "Phones do not latch onto the strongest signal. They follow the network assigned procedure, hence why it's not uncommon to be connected to a weaker signal than is strictly available "

5G at this time allows faster downloads of large files but doesn't really improve surfing speeds just yet.

Ensure 5G is chosen in your connection settings in your phone too please.

I wish you all the best with this.

Hi @CartoonHead

I would put this down to your account being provisioned for 5G.  Speak to the Social Team through Twitter or Facebook messenger, they will have the necessary account access.

Go to About the Community  to see how to contact the Team.

I been on 191 for two days no one knows why it won’t work and seem to think it’s coverage but I can take two other SIM cards and get 5g from same location so not coverage they tell me the sim is fine as i should only need a phone capable and to be with in range for signal. I know it’s account issue but Vodafone doesn’t

Hi @CartoonHead

This should be simple enough for the Social Team to fix, it may well mean resetting your account, basically this will mean disconnecting and reconnecting, not too drastic and will only take a few minutes.

Send the Team a DM through Social channels, the Team will have a lot more success than speaking to CS.

Fingers crossed your next reply will be able to connect to 5G.

Can I ask if you're using 2 SIMs (an eSIM and a standard nano-SIM)?

Apparently iPhone 12 models on ALL Networks have a limitation where the phone will only use 4G if you do. This is not caused by the Vodafone network, but is a limitation within the Apple device & affects all other network operators.

If you're using only 1 SIM, then it's possibly an Account issue
