Solution

Occasionally when I text it shows text coming from original voda number?

Hi,

Although I'll probably have to ring CS to resolve this, I just thought I would ask here first.

Occasionally (happened 3/4 times now) when I text from my phone to someone else's it shows as if the text has been sent from the original number Vodafone provided instead of my own ported in number. Obviously it confused some friends / family as they don't have my originally provided number in their own handsets phonebook & I only got to know because they text back confirming if it is me.

Very odd? Seems like my port is slightly messed up or something.

Also don't know if this is relevant but when I login to my Vodafone account it shows an option to choose 2 numbers - my original Vodafone one & my own ported in number. I have attached an image to show you what I mean (obviously the numbers have been blanked out for privacy / security reasons).

I ported over / took out a new contract with Vodafone in December (Galaxy Fold) and also have one number as I also have a Samsung smart watch too.

Any advice what the issue maybe ? Thanks in advance.

Hi @wharfedale66

Have you tried factory resetting your phone?  This would solve the issue.  It looks like the phone is still using information from the original number.

A replacement SIM may also solve the problem, give this a try first here: SIM swap

Any further problems, there is the Social Team for account access here: Contact Us

Thanks for the advice @AnnS  - as it's my sons handset but in my name I'll ask him to try doing a factory reset on the Fold & see if that resolves the issue.  Failing that I will contact Vodafone & request a replacement sim.

@wharfedale66

A factory reset will just take the phone back to the last successful software update.

As far as I'm aware it won't help with this.

Instead try.....

> https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-do-i-clear-the-cache-on-my-device/ You may need to insert your earphones or hook upto a powered On Laptop to access the Clear Partition Section. This may help with lag or stutters as this clears the phone of old/unused or broken cache files. There is also a Repair Apps option in the Menu System too.

What may have happened is that the phone is primarily recognising the temporary number that Vodafone assigned to the sim card when you joined and isnt recognising the nunber they have then added via the port over using the Pac.

Asking a Vodafone Highstreet Store to sim swap to a new blank sim card may help with this.

Take some form of ID please.

I wish you all the best.  :Smiling:

Hi @wharfedale66! In your phone, please go to Settings > More Connection Settings > Advanced Calling and Messaging > Turn this OFF > Turn of the phone and remove the SIM for 30 minutes

This should resolve the issue you're having. If you're still seeing the same problem afterwards, please contact our Social Media team here and they can reach out to our porting team to double check all the files were received correctly 🙂

@Beth @BandOfBrothers  thank you for the additional advice to resolve this. I think ill ask my son to try Beth's solution first & if that doesn't work I will clean the Samsung Fold's cache partition ( I will probably clean this anyway as easy enough to do)

I'll update on the outcome once my son pops in - thanks again
