I had my phone snatched from my hand 13 days ago, I'm on a contract and have been for years on the same number. I contacted Vodafone who blocked my service until a new sim card was sent to me and was instructed to reactivate my number and service when this arrived.
I did this and after around 6 online chats, each time being told I was reconnected (I never was), I was eventually told that my line had been disconnected and there had been a "system glitch" , an advisor said he was receiving this message: "The telephone number you are trying to reconnect is not available. The number is either in use, ported to another network or disconnected more than 90 day ago". One advisor pretended to transfer me then before replying to a question, disconnected the chat. I went in-store and was assured I would get my number back.
Last Friday I escalated this as a complaint and was told that this "glitch" was given to the "dedicated team" and I would be reconnected on my number within 24-48 working hours, I am pretty sure I'll be at the 48h mark shortly and have not been reconnected nor have I had my promised callback. I'm desperate for my number back so that I can retrieve contacts and data from my whatsapp backup (which will be deleted fully in 30 days if not reactivated) as well as gain entry into multiple services that use it for 2-step verification.
Does anybody know what has really happened maybe from experience and if VF will actually fix this service that I am still paying for despite not being reconnected for over a week ??

I am hopimg this is a simple case of the Barr not being lifted properly after you recieved the replacement sim card @Kipsy
Have a word with the Vodafone Social Media Teams via Facebook Messenger or Twitter DM as they have access to accounts thus way but not unfortunately via the forum.

I'm just so sad at the energy required to follow up trying to be reconnected.
