Vodaphone carrying over data use from previous month

So, I pay monthly and have a monthly data allowance.  I expect Vodaphone to stop data traffic when that limit is reached. My next month starts on the 26th but, hey presto, 899MB from 2230 on the 25th was the first line in the next month's data use. There was another entry marked 0000 26th, which is fair enough.

So, how come?  There should be reciprocity here - if I can't transfer 899MB unused data from the last day of the previous month to the next month, then Vodaphone shouldn't be able to transfer 899MB of used data over.  If your system can't stop data at the limit agreed - that's surely your problem and not mine? I contracted for x GB, I should get xGB. If you give me a baker's dozen with a bit extra that month, you can't get to take it off the next month.

I understand your viewpoint on this.

My understanding is that Vodafone offer a data cap facility as explained in How-do-I-set-up-or-remove-a-data-cap.

If a person does not use all their data allowance then it does roll over depending on the Terms and Conditions of the contract.

Also some phone's can have a limit set in it's data monitor settings.

Hi @Un

If you started or upgraded your contract after July 2019, this would mean your data allowance would automatically be capped and it would be impossible to go over the monthly allowance without purchasing  additional data allowance.  Vodafone should also send an automated text warning when you are close to the limit.

I suspect the reason for the issue you mention will be the cut off time before the monthly roll over date, also it may be impossible for the system to cut off exactly at the monthly limit.

The Social Team will probably get to the thread and give a much better explanation.  Alternatively, you can always go the Social Media route as is often recommended on this forum and speak to the Social Team with a link to the thread through Twitter/Facebook.

Look, I am paying for X Gb a month. I want to have that X Gb. Not go over it and have the extra taken off the next months allowance. Not go under and pay for something I haven't used.

So, if it doesn't cut off at midnight (which it clearly doesn't) How can I ensure that I get my full X Gb? It doesn't matter if that then leaves me with no data for an hour or so.

I have no idea why this has been flagged a "solution".  But then, I am very new to this.  It doesn't explain why almost a GB of data, logged to the account at 2230 on the last day of the month's contract period,  was taken from the next month's quota.  The data was used in the UK. It might have been in excess of the quota for that month - but there is no automatic payment in place.  This month, as expected, when the quota was used up, data was no longer available to use.
