NCK code

Not applicable

Hi

I had forgotten to contact vodafone and request my phone to be unlocked, so I would be able to use the phone in any network whilst I am abroad, consequently, I locked the phone, after couple of attempts.

In adittion, I managed to request NUC code but still need the NCK code please .

Hi @Anonymous

Unfortunately Vodafone Uk cannot guarantee that an unlock code will work while the phone is not in the Uk.

It really needs to be in the Uk with another activated non Vodafone Uk sim card in it to complete the unlocking.

i.e latched to a Uk Network while in the Uk.

You say  I locked the phone, after couple of attempts. "

If this means you've tried the Nck unlocking code a few times and the counter is 0

then Hardlocked the phone and have no further attempts left then a Nuc won't work until the phone has been reset which is usually performed by a Vodafone Repair Centre. If that's not the case then please elaborate on what you mean.

A MCK Mastercode also known as an unfreeze code as well as the Nuc is required for some Samsung phones. Vodafone Uk Customer services or the Vodafone Social Media Team via Contact-us-for-account-specific-queries can supply this code.

However if you have Hardlocked the phone then that won't help just yet.

So as your abroad your options as I see it are...

1. Send the phone to someone you know in the Uk and they use a Vodafone Uk Payg Sim Card in the phone for 30 days making calls etc and then they request it's unlock via the Nuc online form. Unlock it and then send it back to you.  But again if the phone is hardlocked a Nuc and MCK won't still work.

2. Look to see if a Local Highstreet Shop advertises they unlock phones for a fee.

3. Look to use a reputable Online Unlocking Site for a fee.

4. Sell the phone and buy one that accepts your current sim card.

5. Pack the phone away until you return to the Uk and look into getting its counter reset and unlocking it then.

Hi @Anonymous

If you have the unlock code, you only need to master MCK code to access the unlock menu, this should have been provided at the same time as the unlock code.

There is no reason for a phone being unable to be unlocked overseas, the unlock code is then used to unlock the relevant part of the phone software, it's the phone that controls the unlock status and it is not something that is network dependent.

When you have the master code, this will bring up the unlock menu, try again using the code you have been provided but if you still have problems you only have 5 tries.

Hopefully, it won't be necessary to pay for an unlocking service.

@Anonymous

Contact the Social Media Team through the contact us link and they will be able to raise this with the NUC Team and get the MCK code you need to enter before using the NUC code.

No point paying for an unlocking service if it can be avoided.

Hi Annes

Thanks for your prompt reply, I have been provided with NUC- eight digit numbers but no MCK code was sent alongside it.

Most phones don't even require a network connection to 'unlock' themselves. It's just the presence of a SIM from another network that prompts the phone to ask for a code!  And that code is hardwired in, at request from the network to the manufacturer. The sooner these networks stop bullying the manufacturer to lock down handsets the better! We own handset after the contract is paid.  We should not have to chase for a code to unlock, you should sort own system out with the manufacturer!
