So my son got himself a new phone for Christmas. He placed his Vodafone sim card into the phone on 29/12/20. He has decided he doesn't like the phone and I have agreed to swap mine with him. I am on a different network and the phone he has is locked to Vodafone. When I have filled the form in today I recieved an emailing saying that the sim needs to be placed into the device for 30 days before a code can be issued. As I said before he placed the sim into the phone on 29th December. I have contacted Vodafone online chat and was told to email nuc resoltuins which I did and I have recieved an email back saying that this email address doesn't give out NUC codes, I didn't ask for the code but wanted a reason why the sim hasn't been picked up for the 30 days.
Can anyone assist me please?

Has the Vodafone sim card been used in the phone within those 30 days @Ksmile87
i.e making calls and sending texts etc which shows activity on the account and latches the phone's imei to the account.

Ok @Ksmile87
Who did he buy the phone from ?
Which phone is it ?
Also do start discussions with the Vodafone Social Media Team's in the interim. The account holder has to.

He purchased the phone from CEX which I have the invoice for.
The phone is a huawei p20 pro.

Ok @Ksmile87
Was the phone sold as locked to Vodafone from CEX ?
I asked where the phone came from as Vodafone do say on the unlocking form “ Unfortunately, we can't unlock your device if you didn't buy it directly from us, for example, from Carphone Warehouse. ”
Unfortunately phones bought from stores such as resellers like CEX can be hard to pin point their history. i.e who originally supplied the phone to the first owner etc !
I would certainly ask the Social Media Team's.
Also in the past CEX have offered unlocking of the phone but I'm not sure if they still do but to add unfortunately I believe the stores are shut right now anyway.
The other option would be to consider using a reputable unlocking online store. That would obviously come with a fee.
Just to make sure the phone is locked to Vodafone can you try another non Vodafone Sim Card ?

Yes it was sold as locked to Vodafone and I have tried another sim. I didn't realise Vodafone wouldn't unlock unless it was purchased from themselves or carphone warehouse.
Could you give me the details of who I could use to get the phone unlocked with a fee?
Many thanks

They say they won't unlock a phone if Carphone Warehouse supplied it , just to be clear to others reading this thread.
I'm sorry but I can't recommend a site for you to use. You would need to Google Search for them and then read the reviews for that particular site @Ksmile87
Or have a conversation with the Social Media Team's.
I wish you all the best with this.

If the phone originally came from Carphone Warehouse, it won't have come locked, all phones sold by Carphone came as unlocked even with a Vodafone SIM.

Unfortunately as the phone was purchased directly from CEX we won't know it's previous history i.e if it was bought from Carphone Warehouse or elsewhere.
Carphone Warehouse was brought up by me as an example due to that being stipulated in the Nuc unlocking request form.
