iPad Pro Unlocking?

Hello,

I purchased an iPad Pro 9.7 back in 2016 off eBay - Apple iPad Pro 32GB, Wi-Fi + Cellular (Unlocked), 9.7in - Rose Gold . Unfortunately at the time I didn't put a SIM in the iPad so I didn't come to know it was actually locked to Vodafone. I spoke to Apple who confirmed the iPad is locked to Vodafone and to contact them (Vodafone) to get the network lock removed. I went through the network unlock service but there isn't an option to unlock iPad (it says the iPad should already be unlocked to all networks). Unfortunately, the iPad I have is not unlocked to all networks.

How can I go about getting this unlocked?

Thanks

As the iPad takes a sim card it will have an imei.

Use that imei number and the Vodafone Payg number you need to have been using in it to latch the iPad imei to the account to request it's unlock via the Nuc unlocking form @imranbuk

If you get stuck Live Chat or the Vodafone Social Media Team's via Twitter or Facebook can advise. Contact-us-for-account-specific-queries.

So I need to get me a Vodafone PAYG sim and use that in the iPad before I can use my EE sim?

How long would I need to use the Vodafone PAYG sim in the iPad before I can get the unlock code?

Thanks

The sim will need to be active in the device for a minimum of 30 days before you'll be able to request a NUC for your iPad @imranbuk If you have any issues with this, please contact our social media team here, and they can assist you further

Does it matter if I get a data sim or phone sim?

So long as the sim is active and regularly connecting to our network, the type of sim shouldn't be an issue

Thank you

There will be 2 requirements:

  1. The device was purchased from Vodafone
  2. The device is not currently blacklisted –

These are the two stipulations Vodafone UK now state @imranbuk

Unlocking has been made much simpler which I believe is in line with Ofcom insisting all devices are unlocked before being supplied to customers from December 2021.

Use a Payg sim card in the iPad using Mobile data which helps latch the iPad imei number to the Payg account and then request unlock.

Apologies @imranbuk, as @BandOfBrothers  has advised there are now only two requirements for requesting an NUC. The 30 day requirement was removed towards the end of February.

Thanks everyone for your help, whilst I was waiting for the SIM I filled out the NUC form and today I got a email telling me to try the non-Vodafone SIM in the iPad and it worked, the iPad is unlocked.
