OneNumber sim swap does NOT work on Apple Watch - Vodafone have been aware for MONTHS with no fix...

When I bought my Apple Watch (from a different store), I preemptively signed up to OneNumber via my online Vodafone account, only to be led round and round in circles by Vodafone's prompts when actually trying to link my watch to it. I found the only way to connect to OneNumber on my watch was to set up a brand new subscription. I contacted Vodafone via online chat and after being assured the initial subscription had been cancelled, I found out yesterday that in fact it hadn't been, and I've been unwittingly paying double for months. My watch has been disconnected from the OneNumber plan for a few weeks now for god only knows what reason, and I am tearing my hair out trying to resolve it...AGAIN.

Having searched the community chat boards this morning (since 191 were absolutely useless last time), I've discovered that this is a common and known issue, which Vodafone have been aware of for months and still have not resolved or even communicated to their call centre teams, who are clueless. It's absolutely shocking that a significant issue you have been aware of since October last year (at the very least) involving the leading Smart Watch manufacturer has STILL not been resolved seven months later.

Update!

I have now discovered that not only are the OneNumber setup issues known to Vodafone, the dropping of service to Apple Watches is too and - yet again - no fix...

Kind off makes sense now. I note your comments about OneNumber not working with Apple watch. I have been having a horrendous time with Apple watch conectivity for about 18 months now. It works as it should occasionally but most of the time it does not. I have missed loads of calls, some important. I visit clients homes and bought the cellular watch as I thought it would be great to leave my phone in the car as my watch should pick up the calls. This sometimes happens most of the time NOT. It very rarely picks up text messages. I have lost count on the number of hours spent either online help or telephoning tech help. I just keep going around in circles unpairing, pairing watch and phone, factory resets you name it I`ve done it loads of times. A couple of months ago it just stopped working altogether (but the payments didn`t stop). No one from Vodafone seemed to be able to get me up and running again until today - but guess what, yes thats right it`s back to sometimes working but mostly not, still not picking up texts. There are other issues as well but suffice to say I don`t think Vodafones One Number is fit for purpose and I have told them that. I have been with Vodafone for over 20 years but now can`t wait until my contract is up later this year to dump them.

I have a thread in this forum about my woes with an Apple Watch ultra, one number and Vodafone’s inability to provide a stable service. Tonight I came on here to update my own thread with the fact it’s showing “no sim “ yet again. Unlike you though I won’t be paying for a service that is clearly not fit for purpose for the remainder of my contract.

To carry on with an existing onenumber subscription but to change Apple Watches, means that you will need to ask them to change the old Watch EID number with the new watch  EID number . Unfortunately most Vodafone agents do not know how to do this, but if you ask for the “the mobile technical department” they will sort it in 5 minutes.

I have done this about 30 times. Oddly, if you have an android watch, you can just scan a QR code to do the same thing, but apple make it difficult.
