Series 4 Apple Watch Cellular doesn’t work

So, in typical Vodafone fashion they have come out with a new feature and product that doesn’t work at launch - in-fact it does several unannounced and unauthorised credit checks.

So I received my brand new iPhone and Apple Watch today and I have to admit, they look fantastic, after opening the iPhone box and just seeing the magnificence that is the phone I am definitely happy with my purchase.

I open up the oddly packaged watch box and start to set it up, everything is fine except for when I got to the mobile data setup section- at first it looked promising a Vodafone log-in screen, “Awesome” I thought, so I logged in and all of a sudden it was asking me to add a subscription for £5 per month.. I thought this was strange as I was already paying for the watch now you’re trying to charge me more for a subscription, I knew it seems to be a mistake so I just glanced at the terms, it seemed normal just about linking them together so it made sense, I went ahead and clicked add subscription knowing that I would just call Vodafone and explain the situation if they tried to charge me more.

Anyway, it shows me a loading screen and I’m simply waiting for it to complete the link between my devices.

After a short while it went to a blank white screen and then... what’s this... I HAVE FAILED A CREDIT CHECK AND I HAVENT BEEN CHARGED?!?!?

So not only did it fail.. Vodafone has performed a credit check, without authorisation just to link it to my existing plan that I was already credit checked on?

Good one Vodafone, will be returning the watch and the device and leaving the network for good, this is the final straw, I’ve had nothing but trouble with you for 7 years and I’ve stuck by you, but you just cannot get anything right first time, EVER.

wondering if anyone else had this happen to them.

Hi everyone,

OP here, I can’t believe this issue is still effecting some people, I get emails almost daily about updates for this, it’s crazy to think it still hasn’t been sorted for everyone.

i can now finally say all of my issues are resolved and everything is working fine, you have to be persistent and contact the directors team, standard help from the tech team does not work.

Contact Nick Jeffries team and hopefully you will get I resolved like I did.

I had it for six months, fake promises and countless 24 hours..took watch back as had enough which is a shame but it was just not worth all the stress and hassle

How does one contact the Directors Team please?  I am at my wits end.

My Apple Watch cellular connection suddenly started to work earlier this week after receiving an Vodafone update for it.

I had used the Sim in my Android phone for a few hours the previous day,  I put it bank in my iPhone, got the APN message and choose the Apple Watch option. Nothing changed until the following day when I had the Vodafone update and it has worked since then.

Good for you wish I had mine sorted but after 6 months of trying Vodafone told me to give watch back as they couldn’t pair it ? So I did

I do not have that option, I bought my watch from elsewhere and anyway, I have a serious heart condition and want the watch specifically for "Fall Alert".  This will work so long as I have my iphone on my person, but not otherwise, I really need Cellular connection.  And I paid £500 for it purely because it would pair with my iphone and Vodaphone network.    I have spoken to so many people in various teams, including Rebecca, Rabin, Matthew, Joe, James, Abdul, Neem, Rebecca and a variety of others, each one promising me it will "definitely" be working within 24 hours.  Each time, I waited 24 hours, and then had to ring in again to 191 only to start the investigative process all over again.  While at the hospital Monday this week, one Vodaphone genius actually cut off my phone service completely and my husband had to come to find me, collect phone, visit a store for a new SIM for the phone, all totally ridiculous and unnecessary.  Today someone (name unrecognisable) told me that the whole thing is "stuck" in the system, as an "open" case and it has been "escalated" . Oh really.    Great service Vodaphone, really well done.   How do you expect customers to have confidence in Vodaphone's expertise?   I have been a customer for more than 30 years, but once this contract finishes in August, I will switch immediately to EE.  If I am still alive, that is.

I feel for you and know how you feel as I have been told the same as you over and over and even had promise of compensation which never happened either, like you after 14 years with them I’ve had enough

you say "contact Nick Jeffries team".   How?

@jackieS  I'm sorry to hear about the problems you've had with your Apple Watch. I understand this must have been difficult for you and our team will be happy to take a closer look into everything.
So we can help you further, I've sent you a private message with details on how to get in touch.

Could you possibly contact me privately too? Having the same issue - brand new Apple Watch Series 4, getting error 2005 on trying to activate. 191 couldn't help (mysteriously hit an error when I gave them the EID), and it's gone to L2, but having read this and the countless other threads I'm not convinced at all...

do not know how to send PM's sorry.  I have nothing to add, Vodafone are worse than useless, nothing has been done for me at all.
