Hi. After waiting for a Miui upgrade for over a year Vodafone has rolled one out today. I've done the upgrade and I am unable to enable my SIM card and hence unable to make calls. Any ideas? TIA
Solved! Go to best answer.

Hi everyone, thanks so much for flagging and rest assured this is something we've been working on with the manufacturer to get you all connected to what you love again.
To keep you all updated, Xiaomi have advised that a patch is going through final testing through their side and we're looking to verify this from our side today.
All going well, this patch should be with you over the next few days, by next week at the very latest.
Please don't try any troubleshooting steps such as a factory reset or arranging a repair of the phone as once the software is out, this will resolve things for you.
Once we have confirmation that the fix is working and when it can be released, we'll let you know ASAP here.

My patch arrived yesterday, phone is fully working! Fixed the SIM card issue and also the bluetooth (which was an issue with the same upgrade)!
Very happy!
Lets hope it stays....
Good luck everyone else xxx

No update, nothing

What is the new update

Read the previous page or two on this thread. You'll see it's the second attempt to fix this issue!
Read further back and you'll find all the information to complain to customer services, advice on emailing the CEO, and other suggestions to try and deal with this issue.
I'm still waiting for the 11.0.5.0 update. Very frustrated to still be waiting.

Ok, retrace this... just had to do a reboot of my phone (as a test)... once rebooted, the sim card does get detected, but the service is gone again!!!!

Still no update from 11.0.4.0 which did nothing to my phone apart from change the "no sim" icon to a set of blank bars.
I've now been promised a fix FIVE times and they've failed to deliver every single one of those five times.

Hey up everyone. I have managed to fix my phone and it is running well with MIUI 11.0.4.0 (QFAEUVF rom)
I will drop here step by step how I did it (I was even stuck at 11.0.1.0, so I managed to get thru it as well)
for those stuck in the version 11.0.1.0 (QFAEUVF) (eg. system updater not showing any other update further than 11.0.1.0) and want to give a try in the version 11.0.4.0 (QFAEUVF) (supposedly first fix for SIM card bug), I have found a way to fix it.
1 - full battery
2 - backup as needed
3 - take SIM card out (non-sense having it in if doesn't work xD)
4 - Settings - Mi Account - Sign Out (disconnect your Mi account from device)
5 - Settings - About Phone - System update - Tap 5 / 6 times in MIUI 11 logo
6 - Check if you really did your backup, just to make sure
7 - In System update from step 5, three dots in right upper corner
8 - Reboot to recovery menu
9 - Using your volume keys go to ' Wipe Data ' (known as factory reset) and select it with your power key and confirm
10 - Perfom clean installation and don't insert your SIM card or associate your Mi account when asked, just use home/public WIFI network.
11 - When first start process is over, head over to Settings - About Phone - System Update and click to search for update.
12 - Should show up update 11.0.4.0
13 - Download and install, phone will ask you to restart and complete update
14 - As soon as the phone is up and running, try to insert your SIM card (usually 1 slot counting from your left)
15 - Connect Mi account and check if SIM card is detected and confirmed
16 - If not, try another reset (I know, pain in the a*s), but these things work this way.
Hope this helps people stuck in 11.0.1.0 but as well people using already 11.0.4.0
I will come often here to try to help.

Just spent an hour on the live chat, been told that a new patch has been completed, approved by Google and will be pushed out in the next 24 hours, supposedly this will solve everything.
Thought I'd just give you all an update as clearly Vodafone have no interest in updating anyone themselves!

Shambles. They said the same yesterday. It was supposed to be completed by end of play yesterday. I also had a complaint logged with customer services . The guy had no clue whatsoever! Tried to pass me over to tech support (again). They weren't picking up so he promised that they will call me back. Still waiting. Last night resorted to complaint to the CEO office. Got a response this morning that they will contact me within 24 hrs. Extremely poor service from Vodafone

I have also been waiting for the latest update, as was promised to me by the guy who had called me from the CEO's office yesterday morning. No such luck!
Hope it's dropped today....so tired of waiting endlessly. The only good part of the conversation was that he agreed that Vodafone were at fault as well and he also said that he will be calling me back to check if the issue has been resolved and discuss compensation for the lost time. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼
