HI,
I was wondering if anyone can tell me whether Vodafone 4G gives a dedicated IP or whether it uses carrier grade or large scale NAT?
Thanks,
WTLeger

As far as I’m aware, this uses dynamic IP addresses, but I’m going to double check this for you.
I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

It’ll be a dynamic IP address.
When you make a connection to the internet, you do it, over our internal network.
So essentially, you’ll have a private IP address (mine a few days ago was 10.10.159.xxx and is now 10.3.172.xxx). This will then route your connection internally to the point where NAT takes place to change the IP to the public IP address and out to the internet (my external IP was in the 85.xxx.xxx.xxx range a few days ago and is now 185.69.144.xxx).

Thanks very muc for the info guys, much appreciated.
So am I correct in understanding that I get a personal internal IP with vodafone but but when I connect to the internet vodafone connect me to it via the same public IP address that will be shared by lots of other vodafone customers?
Thanks again for your help.

That is correct and the same IP address can be used by a number of users simultaneously :smileyhappy:
