Hi there
I used to use a Vodafone dongle to connect my laptop to the internet but haven't used for about 1 year and paying for it for all this time! Can you advise how I cancel this? I'm afraid I have probably lost the dongle and also don't know the number for it!!
Thanks
Cliff

Hi Cliff,
To cancel your contract you must give 30 days notice and provide the following information:
• the account name, and account number
• the invoice address
• the mobile number to be terminated
• the date of termination
• the name of the account owner
Ths can be done in writing to:
Vodafone Limited
PO Box 932
DONCASTER
DN4 5XW
You can also do this via email the contact details are availaible on the contact us page
Since you no longer have the dongle it is important you include as much information as you can so the account can be found and terminated sucessfully, you may find some of the missing information on a recent bill for example.
Alternativly if you sit tight one of the eforum team should be able to find out the number for you based on other details you will know (name, address, DoB etc) They are only a small team and work on a first come first server basis but will get to you as soon as they can.

It sounds like you might be lacking in some of the information that you'll need to concel your contract.
If you still have the sim then Vodafone customer services might be able to work out the rest from the long number on the sim, or if the Mobile Broadband account is associated with your handset account then they might be able to work it out as well.
If you're reading this thinking "nope" then you can find out your IMSI by clicking start, then run (or seach programs and files on Win 7/Vista) typing %appdata% and pressing return, this opens your application data folder. If you running windows 7 double click "roaming" and then (this bit is the same for all other version of windows) "Vodafone", then "Vodafone Mobile Broadband".
In this folder there's a file that will PROBABLY be called MobileBroadbandProfile.XML (but it might just end in Profile.XML) if you double click this fliel it shoudl open in internet explorer (or equivalent), search this for IMSI and make a note of the number that starts 23415. This is the IMSI associated with the sim you used in the dongle. The IMSI is held on the HLR in the mobile network, so if you call in to Vodafone customer services they shoudl be able look up your IMSI, find out your mobile number from this which I guess woudl allow them to look up your account details.
Good luck!
